    Ponyscape is a little more complicated since you have to redraw the outline and do the fill and their is no paint bucket but the overall result is quite good since its an infinitely scale-able vector, ive never really worked with backgrounds but i have thought about making my own i have looked at a few tutorials it doesn't seem to complicated its just thinking about the setting you want to do :p
