I just found out about this website from my friend on Steam, Jake. I have had some very bad experiences in the MLP fanbase in the past. I was on Bronystate for a while. I did not like the community of people, the admins, everything about it. It didn't sit right in my head the way I got treated. Then I went to a Team Fortress 2 MLP server. Admin made a poll question pretty much saying to agree with a troll. Later on, after playing alot more TF2, I found the community on the whole game itself a huge joke, and left. Later, I camped in EFN's chatroom. Was ok, but there were some small aspects I didn't like about it. Something was missing. Then I went to MLPforums. I met Tom, who I thought was an amazing friend for a while, but now all he talks about is "PC Master Race", and "Gabe Newell". Later on, on the forums, I found a nasty thread on there. I don't think the mods are very nice people to talk to. I thought the fanbase was better in its early years, but it doesn't seem like that. Ever since I jumped on the bandwagon around October of 2011, it felt fresh and new. But when I went on Bronystate for a long time, it seemed like bad luck started to rise. I am out of ideas of where to go in this fanbase. I am clueless. I feel like I was fooled. I feel like I was promised something rewarding though all this but there is nothing. Just mean and rude people. The meetup group I found in my area are very nice people, so what is up with that? I wonder if there is a specific group of Bronies I am looking for. I honestly have no idea. I am just running in a circle. I just want to erase my head. And start with a fresh clean slate. This has been going on for two years. I don't know what the holdup is. Did all the good people left? Am I in the wrong side of the internet? Did I become part of this fandom for nothing? There are many questions left unanswered.
I can assure you, this place is quite a lot better than some of the places I've been to. You will most certainly find a fresh, clean, back-at-zero start here. The people here are pretty nice and good, and quite friendly from my experience. So welcome to Everypony. I trust that with these people you'll warm up real quick to this place. And consider this as a little motivation for your new beginning: http://music.soundoftheaviators.com/track/zero
Well, like any fandom there are good people, and there are *squee!*s. Unfortunately *squee!*s leave a more lasting impression on us. =P The key is not to let them get to you, no matter how cliche it sounds. =P
Hi, I'm one of the aforementioned *squee!*s. I think you'll find that almost everybody on this site is pretty friendly, with only a few exceptions.
I felt the same way. When I joined my first forum I expected everyone to just welcome me and become my friend without me having to say much. Obviously that was my fault, but then there's all the drama, people fighting, mods acting better than the rest, etc. I started to want to have NOTHING to do with the community (and stayed that way for a year or so). I actually just joined this site today looking for a fresh start because I'm more mellow and tolerant than I was before. I don't know too many members here yet so I can't guarentee anything, but I promise I'm not a jerk. Hope this is your best experience!
If you focus solely on the *squee!*s on the internet, you're gonna have a bad time. I can't make any promises about this site since I lack detailed information on your interactions with the ones you've been a part of, but these days, this place is pretty chillin'.
This IS one of the friendlier forums. Trust me. And Ridley's not really that big of an *******... he just pretends to be. Welcome aboard!
Oh yeah I forgot to mention I easily give into hate. I really need to work on that. What a relief. Thanks everyone
I have been rather inactive here, but I haven't had any problems either. Regarding MLP Forums, I left that site long ago, given their strong anti-LGBT bias (my posts were censored, and mod-sanctioned trolling squadrons started showing up simply because I stood up to a virulent homophobe). When it comes to what you have dealt with on the internet, sonicdude558, it is a common phenomenon. What you (and many others) have seen pertains to the Online Disinhibition Effect. Essentially, many people abuse online anonymity to say things they normally wouldn't dare to say to someone's face, as they know there aren't going to be any meaningful consequences for their actions. Such displays of sociopathic behavior on the internet are cowardly in nature, and such people are ultimately trying to make everyone else feel as miserable as they do.
How bad can this forum be? I'm on it! But really, this is one of the better forums in terms of there being few trolls and good administrators and all around members that don't suck
I kind of know what you mean. Ostensibly, bronies seem like they would be very kind and accepting people, and yet I've witnessed no insignificant amount of asshattery go on in this fandom. The scope of people I've argued with runs the gamut from gay-bashing religious zealots, to manipulative sociopaths who threaten suicide if you don't shower them with attention, to outright trolls who make no attempt to hide the fact that they're just there to stir the ****pot. Seen my fair share of favoritism and circlejerk behavior as well, especially around places like MLP Forums and World of Equestria. Of course, if you want to see the absolute worst of the worst that this fandom has to offer, read the comment sections on Equestria Daily. Within moments your forehead will be crimson from the sheer amount of facepalms you're likely to receive. Anyway, despite my one gripe that Everypony can be extraordinarily inactive at times, I will say that in the time I've been here, I've seen far less drama go down here than elsewhere. Truth be told, I've been warned by a couple of ex-EPF members that I should stay away from the melting pot of drama this place supposedly used to be, but the atmosphere here has seemed chill ever since I joined.
This is the only MLP forum I've ever cared about. I had some troubles in the past here and there, but it still seems to have that family-friendly charm.
Welcome dude! I can assure you you'll like this place! I warmed up to it really quickly and infact most of the good friends I have made online that I have really stuck with I met on here! Welcome to Everypony
Thanks guys I will give the forum a try when I feel like it I am just scared about the fact that it is gong to turn against me. I will see
