So it was this year, after being a tomboy for YEARS, that my parents let me come out and become a transgender (girl to boy). I wanted to write my story down because it's long and I know that some day, it will help another kid going through the same thing. Well, now it's your turn. I'm looking for teens ages 10-18 (roughly, a little older or younger is fine) who are willing to share their stories with others. I want both girl to boy and boy to girl transitions. I want from beginning to end struggles and joys. Everything you went through, and how you came out and told your friends and family you wanted to be transgender. The book is going to be called "Gender Benders", and it's going to be in the style of a fictional book. But it obviously is not going to be. It'll be interesting to see. Send your typed story in a Word or PDF file to mialybolt@gmail.com. Thanks, everypony!
Are you only looking for transsexual people (those who have undergone a surgery/horomone therapy) or just transgendered people in general? Is anyone on the genderqueer spectrum invited to give their story? Those who identify as both or neither gender might have something to say.
I'm looking for everything I can get. Both, neither, queer, everything. Those who have and haven't undergone surgery and/or horomone therapy. I need it all!
I'll start writing mine tommorow. I feel writing my experiences and feelings and my personal dealing with it will help me gain personal confidence. So perhaps expect my contribution to be sometime in august. Also how many pages in word would you expect both the minimum and maximum.
Yes! Thank you for your help! I would like anywhere between 3-30 pages. As much as you feel comfortable sharing is great. Thanks!
I know this is an old topic, but I did have something to add. I am a male-to-female transgender individual and I have always sort of known I wasn't really a "male." It never fit me, and as a kid I watched a lot of shows with female protagonists, like Power Puff Girls, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Zoey 101, Hannah Montana; and I watched ever more shows with female secondary characters because I could relate to them. Now, I'm not the most feminine of ladies, I like a lot of things considered masculine. And in fact I dislike certain things considered feminine, but at the end of the day, I look in my mental mirror and I see a woman. =D Hope that illuminates something about me! If anything else comes to mind I'll be sure to edit this post.
I am an advocate of the rejects, the lepers, the undesirables, the low-lifes, the transgenders. I am also a fan of monetary charity...so I must ask you, are you paying these transgenders fair wages for their stories?
This seems to be a commercial project, a book, and it seems unfair if they are not giving cash incentives to the workers.
I think it's kind of a moot point, because the OP is long gone. Seriously, does nobody read dates anymore?
