Did anyone else think that S1 Ep 9 Bridle Gossip could have been related to the canterlot WEDDING episode
maybe. the title of that episode was bit odd. it didn't have much to do with actual episode, so yeah, possibly.
A bridle is a piece of equipment used to guide a horse. I guess the gossip part was because it people spreading gossip/rumours about Zecora.
I absolutely adored both those episodes. I hope Queen Chrysalis and/or her Changelings appear in Season 3, I just love them.
I was watching this again on Dailymotion and it occurred to me... they NEVER actually say Chrysalis' name on the show!!!
Funnily enough, Twilight calls her by name in the German dub despite Chrysalis never introducing herself like that. The name was also terribly mispronounced as Cree-zaah-lis, so yeah...
So, I just watched this episode, and I have several things to say... -"TONIGHT, ON 'MY LITTLE PONY: CONQUEST'!" Seriously, as one of the biggest fans of Phelous, I can't help but see similarities between this episode and "Mortal Kombat: Conquest". Chrysalis has replaced Cadence and is acting un-Cadence-like for the entire episode, and she kidnapped the real Cadence, but five of the Mane Six don't notice it despite being obvious...just like in the episode "Flawed Victory". Also, Chrysalis banishes Twilight to undiscovered mines that are easily escapable and guarded by the most inept and icompetent guards ever. Yep, Chrysalis banished Twilight to the Cobalt Mines of Shokan. Twilight gets into an argument with the rest of the five until she's proven right, a common plot thread with Kung Lao, Taja and Siro. Also, Celestia disbelives Twilight, and when Chrysalis reveals herself, Celestia is unable to fight off Chrysalis. And Luna shows up after the episode is almost over. Say it with me, everyone: "GOD OF USELESS!" -on that last point, Celestia is a goddess, and is in fact the closest thing this show has to God. And Chrysalis just beat her with no effort. -why wouldn't Celestia believe Twilight? I can buy the five not believing Twlight, but Celestia is not only supposed to be wise, but she adores Twilight and listen to everything she has to say -why couldn't Chrysalis just mind-control Twilight into submission? -or why couldn't she have a Changeling shift into Twilight's shape to discredit Twilight? -so, if Shining Armor is Twilight's brother, why didn't she mention him until this very episode? Same thing with Cadence -you know, the first thing Twilight did when she met Chrysalis-as-Cadence was perform the secret hoofshake, so why does she take Cadence performing it as definitive proof that it's the real Cadence? -how old is Cadence? She is shown to be a filly when Twilight was a filly, but she's supposed to be older than Twilight...why would Twilight's parents let a filly foalsit her? -wouldn't it make more sense for Pinkie Pie to do the catering, considering that she works in a bakery? -come to think of it, didn't the Mane Six learn anything from the Nightmare Moon incident? Even if they don't know what a Changeling is, they would remember what happened to Luna, so they would believe Twilight whjen she tells them that something is up. For all trhey know, the Nightmare Moon Entity possessed Cadence.
I'm not going to comment on all that Mortal Kombat stuff simply because I don't know anything about it, but I guess I can offer my personal thoughts on some of the other issues you have. Celestia being an actual deity is strictly fanon. While alicorns are probably pretty powerful, they are not without match as the series time and time again shows. It might be a more subtle manipulation on Chrysalis's part that makes Celestia trust her more than Twilight in this situation. After all, they probably spent quite a bit of time together in Canterlot before the events of the episode. If Shining Armor is any indiation, brainwashing takes quite a bit of time and effort to do. It's not as if Chrysalis could warp anyone's mind with the snap of her fingers like Discord. For starters, she doesn't even have fingers. She probably thought that Twilight did such a good job discrediting herself that it wasn't necessary. Either way, it would probably not have changed the outcome much. Keep in mind that, as the beginning of season 4 revealed, all of the first three seasons take place within a single year (with many episodes probably not being in order), so it probably didn't take that long for Twilight to mention her brother to the others as it may seem to viewers of the series. As for Cadance... I don't know. Do you regularly mention your childhood babysitters to your friends? Well, maybe she thought that Chrysalis didn't pay much attention to the secret hoofshake as she was kinda surprised by that. Or it was the fact that, just a minute ago, Chrysalis dropped all false pretense and went straight into gloat mode. Why would she try to convince Twilight of being the real Cadance now? Why not back when Twilight herself was doubting her own actions and even apologized to fake Cadance? Not a filly, a teen. Cadance is quite noticeably older than Twilight, so I don't even know what seems to be the problem here. Then who'd do the party planning? AJ? Also, catering usually means more than just an assortment of cakes. What Nightmare Moon entity? As far as the show is concerned, a fit of furious jealousy transformed Luna into Nightmare Moon. I don't really see any connection to what happened at the wedding. You are right though that Twilight's friends should have taken her concerns more seriously, not because of the Nightmare Moon incident, but because of the events during Lesson Zero... unless, of course, Lesson Zero happened after the wedding chronologically, but I'm not sure if that would make more sense or even less.
