To me, it seems that way. They liked the Twilight/Tirek fight scene because of how pandering and superficially (if not literally) bad-ass it was. However, they hated the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle, despite them representing friendship far better than the Twilight/Tirek fight. As a result, I get the feeling that they want MLP to give up on its core friendship themes to become Dragon Ball Z from here on out. They want Twilight's friends to be pushed by the wayside, made useless and disposable, and even murdered, just so that Twilight could become the most OP, most destructive, and angriest anti-hero Super Saiyan in the whole wide world.
Wat did you smoke? I didn't like rainbow castle and the rainbow power, because they don't need to be there. We already have the elements of harmony. They represents friendship waaay better. And the fight was good.I didn't think anything like that was going to happen. It was a nice surprise.that is the only reason I like the fight.
Except the Elements of Harmony had been given away to save the Tree of Harmony. Sorry, but we're going to be stuck with the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle once Season Five rears its head, regardless if you like it or not. As for the fight, it was the moment MLP jumped the shark. It was technically like watching classic style superheroes devolve into dark, gritty anti-heroes during the 90's at the expense of quality storytelling, and as a result causing the comic book industry to collapse on itself and lose tons of money. It was also like Shadow the Hedgehog, and the way it tossed aside everything that made Sonic the Hedgehog good in the first place, namely by emphasizing gun violence, murdering innocent people and even Sonic himself, and other forms of destructive, anti-social behavior. Hell, the game's ending even promoted desecrating memories of the dead! Twilight is usually at her best when she works together with her friends, and if not them than Shining Armor and Cadence in Canterlot Wedding, Spike in Crystal Empire, and (god forbid) the Human Five in Equestria Girls. As an alicorn princess, she represents everything that's good about friendship, and she almost tossed it aside to emphasize her destructive, godlike rage and vengeance on the level of Shadow the Hedgehog. Hell, she almost even tossed aside her friends (I say "almost", because she does disempower herself to save her friends) for the sake of proving how "bad-ass" she was!
I have a feeling that you would like it if the show turned to db. Sure, the elements of harmony had to be given away to save the tree of harmony.but the rainbow power is just the elements whit a different name. Second: It was ONE fight. It's like saying that just because I like chopper in one piece,I now want all of the strawhat pirates to become animals.
Well, there can't just be more and more fights because there are still little boys and girls who watch MLP. Because with the plot becoming more complicated, those kids may not understand what they heck is going on, get frustrated from not understanding it, and might as well stop watching the Hub altogether, kinda putting Hasbro in a bad place. Their main focus are family-friendly TV shows, toys, etc. And family includes kids. Sure, Hasbro might finally be understanding that teens and adults enjoy watching, but removing the childish spirit just kinda... doesn't make it all "family" anymore. And it would just sorta take out the fun in loving MLP for [most] people: The magic of friendship. If more and more fights were added, it would just show... the magic of fighting. It may bring a destructive personality into kids, or just do no improving or disproving thing. What I also think the reason why the show is all just lessons in friendship is because the Hasbro media might be trying to improve the next generation. All this crazy reality shows everyone's watching is giving the wrong message to kids to be like what society is today. Surely you know what I mean by "society". The USA still giving the Middle East money that helps then plan the next terrorist attack, the dumb side of MTV, kids taking over their parents' lives, etc. But MLP is teaching kids on how to be a good friend, what to do in stressful situations, and the consequences of their wrong doings. Adding more violence could show children that fighting can solve a lot of things, which isn't true. Now don't get me wrong, I squealed loudly for nearly the ENTIRE fight, it was so epic~<3 But I think that if there was more of those, it may just ruin the entire reason what MLP was created for. But if there were fights relative to Twilight vs. Tirek just every now and then, that would be just perfectly fine. A fair mixture of entertainment for the kids and the "older" kids~ Just try to remember the next time you start to think MLP is starting to act too childish and all "magical pretty rainbow unicorns of friendship", there are young little kids who still watch this. The next generation who could learn friendship and peace and make a change in the world when they get older, and they'll look back and think, "I'm so glad I watched that pony show." And that you should respect that Hasbro is doing a good job at making this friendly for kids by adding all that stuff (the castle, rainbow power, etc), and you should let the kids have their turn to watch a show with their taste of entertainment.
This is your fourth thread on this and one was locked. Let it go? Sent from my XT1080M using Tapatalk
Well, if adding more DBZ-style fights would destroy everything that made MLP good in the first place, then what about the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle? Unlike the Twilight/Tirek fight, the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle represented Twilight's strong bonds of friendship with all of her friends. And yet people hate both of those yet like the fight scene, which only makes them look like they want MLP to give up on friendship to become nothing but Twilight Sparkle becoming angry and destructive at the expense of her friends and their individual character-arcs? Also, as a disclaimer, I'm not asking Heimdall to answer the question for me, since he already did. I'm actually asking Galactic Toast that question.
Like I said in my post: The Rainbow power and Castle is just another addition to all the friendship stuff, even though it seems unnessecary. Plus, it showed kids how much Twilight became important in her role of royalty. First she was greatly upset that she didn't seem all that important, then suddenly "WOAH OH MY GOSH She has this big shiny castle that seems better than the other castles she must be SUPER DUPER important now!!! "
I wish I could believe that. I wish I could think that Twilight isn't about her godlike power as an alicorn princess, so much as she is about her friends and the compassion she shows to them, even if it's at the expense of her godlike power. But again, I'm not seeing that in bronies. I didn't see that in Tommy Oliver or Dr. Wolf, both of whom liked the fight scene but hated the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle. In a way, they and possibly other MLP show analysts have jumped the shark just as much as nearly every other brony in the world. They no longer care about the very things that made them bronies in the first place, and would rather want to see MLP to become as ridiculously grim-dark as humanly possible at the expense of its core friendship theme. After all, grim-dark is what's selling nowadays, because cheerfulness, optimism, and sincerity were what created Generation Three of MLP. I mean, what the Hell do bronies even want at all out of MLP? What they liked and didn't like about the Season Four finale is the most confusing thing on Earth, to me.
Another "everyone who liked the Twilight/Tyrek action scene wants Twilight's friends to be killed and the show to become dark and gritty" post? Honestly, how many more of them are you going to make? And as much as I'd love to elaborate on my personal reasons why I don't particularly like neither Rainbow Power nor Twilight's new castle, I have a hunch that you're just going to endlessly repeat your inane ramblings without ever explaining your reasoning behind it. So I'll just leave it at that: Rainbow Power = stupid overpowered 1-hit-KO attack that came out of the box like a literal deus ex machina and is more about raw firepower than about the power of friendship. Twilight's Castle = cold, ugly and totally out of place looking replacement for the beloved Golden Oak Library which has been Twilight's home for four entire seasons.
So it's not really about the way they promoted friendship as much as it was how they were used badly. Besides, my reason for those insane ramblings is because people are always comparing that fight to Dragon Ball Z, which was ridiculously grim-dark almost at the expense of Dragon Ball Classic's cheerful optimism and childlike humor. So I thought I'd go up a step by mentioning how Twilight's friends are useless, disposable extras who might as well be murdered for the benefit of Twilight's over-empowerment, and that it's what fans would want because they got accustomed to it in Dragon Ball Z, and not just because they hate the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle. But other than that, I don't know what bronies want out of MLP anymore. They came to the show for the friendship themes, and even though the Rainbow Power and Rainbow Castle actually promoted friendship compared to the Twilight/Tirek fight, they seem to hate those two things but liked the Twilight/Tirek fight. Not only that, but those same people had a problem with DBZ where the anime series deliberately sidelined and/or murdered the supporting cast for the benefit of Goku's over-empowerment, which was almost the same problem as the Twilight/Tirek fight. In other words, they'd accept Twilight's friends getting sidelined and disposed of for the benefit of her over-empowerment, but have somewhat of a problem with the same thing in DBZ?
