I really, really enjoyed Rainbow Rocks despite slight uneasiness concerning the first Equestria Girls. If I can restrain my thoughts on that movie, I might go into more detail but there was something I found undeniably fantastic about the final fight between the Psyrens and the Wondercolts:

It seemed kinda like 'Scott Pilgrim' to me. Not that it was a direct reference but it did start to get kind of vibe that the art direction seemed a little like the battle between Scott Pilgrim and the Katayanagi Twins. Where music was a literal weapon or beast being summoned that slammed into the other for a fight.

And it made the final battle in that film pretty damn fun.

And you know what? I hope MLP keeps doing this. I hope it keeps looking at another style and trying it on for a few seconds, at least, whenever it feels it could expand on the point being made.

Partly because, for us, it makes the show more vibrant and unusual. It gives it one new avenue of surprise for it to do things with. Maybe even an avenue of parody, which would be awesome. Please, don't be afraid of doing this because it keeps us Bronies engaged as we're likely to pick up on the joke.

And for younger audiences? Well, why is Loonie Tunes awesome? For a multitude of reasons but one I've heard is that it challenges the kids watching occasionally. It shows them a parody on opera. It introduces them to classical music. It makes jokes that they barely understand. And they usually try to understand the joke if it strikes them that they don't know everything. They usually ask or think to Google it later. Usually.

Granted, it's because it's just appropriated shorts that were intended to be shown at the start of a movie, but they kept the majority of the style and jokes going.

MLP: FiM could totally do that. I'm sure you can imagine some...I dunno, episode with a 'Psycho' parody where Pinkie Pie is found with icing and in her shock, collapses to the floor while the camera focuses on icing dripping down somewhere as a result of her squeezing it out from the hoard in her hooves.

Just a thought but, I'd love to see more of this stuff from MLP because it's a blast! How about you lot?

I would love to see more of the MLP shows and movies. It surprises me that there is a season 5 and they confirmed it already. Also, there is this pony movie coming 2017. I'm pretty sure the fandom will last for a long time. I wish it could last forever! :)

Pish posh. The 'Fandom' ends when you want it to. No need to worry, as far as I'm concerned.

But yes, these movies fill me with a little more interest than before, after seeing Rainbow Rocks.

I like the fact that the writing includes a good balance of who it appeals to. That's pretty rare with cartoons... especially one that is basically one huge toy ad. The writers aren't afraid to go out on a limb a little and if something flops, they usually roll out of it pretty well. The plot lines stay pretty dynamic. One thing I noticed about RR was the fact that they do a pretty good job explaining what happened prior to it. You can almost watch it with little to no setup which I think is the mark of a good solid story. I thought it was WAY better than the first movie... and I absolutely LOVED the first one!

I agree, they do seem to be reasonably good with that tightrope.

Aaaaand, I agree the second movie is loads better and I'm kinda...lukewarm on the first one.

I still kinda feel like they could get away with a little more than they're currently doing but that could be me hoping for a little more in the show specifically aimed for my age group. Maybe, maybe not...Not sure.

Wow...I was going to dismiss it but you have a point: it's like Habro went

'Eh! We have all this leftover crap from Jem. How can we shift this stuff?'

It all makes sense now...Except, it's now magic instead of holograms.
