princess celestia pink? applejack has no hat? some of the toys arent even real characters? pinky pie is a baby? what is wrong with toy makers, i mean none of the toys are actually like the characters. the mcdonalds toys were more accurate. i wish the toy makers would quit *squee!*ing up. they are producing toys of characters that dont exist. its hard bein a brony.
*First of all, mind your language. This is a forum after all and read the rules first.* Do mind this show appeals to kids and not us older folk. (Considering I'm still a kid/adult [18]) -Princess Celestia is technically pink/lavender. -Blah blah more rant that everyone is obviously going to hate on these toys. If your a die-hard brony, find someone near your area that is a brony and does commissions. That's how I spent $$$ on a Custom Derpy and Vinyl Scratch. Accurate and nice having a custom that stores don't sell. :derpe: They just make toys anyways, doesn't mean you have to buy them. Go buy whatever you want. I'd still collect the mane 6 brushables if I had time to get them. Also the Twilight/Celestia Throw Blanket, and any other merch in stores that seem awesome. Anyways time to show off my customs. Spoiler: Merch, be jelly...
Hasbro happened to them Since the show got developed by someone else they just decided to take the old toys and recolor them to (sort of) fit the new characters, for most little girls this is all they need.
If they're getting a living out of them, you'd think they'd put more effort into them, to make them they're actual characters, not just a different coloured pony... Which is why i think the toys are personality-less. I do however also think that if they could be arsed to improve the cartoons, which they have, they'd actually improve the toy, too. So maybe it isn't so bad...
I've seen more recent toys based on Friendship is Magic, but the original My Little Pony toys look distinctly different from the show, which was produced later. So, you could say the toys have gotten better.
To a point, Hasbro keeps trying to shove the new ones into the old design Though the harder to find mini-ones are pretty on model with the show
I got the last wave brushable Pinkie, she's lovely done. Except her ankle is not as defined as the cartoon (fixable with a small file, not trying it tru) and the neck joint kinda creeps me. (also there's the uncutable hair forfaiting all the work done mimicking Pinkie's hair do.
I want the Nightmare Moon plushie that was featured in the line up on EQD a long time ago. I prefer plushies over figurines.
You mean that big one?Yeah thats pretty cool, but Id rather have the giant life sized rainbow dash, lol Only shipped to north america. GAHH!
When in doubt, customize! I wasn't too pleased with the way they portrayed Celestia in the toy, but the good news is, it's fixable... with some effort. It could be the industry is trying to prevent an all-too-common occurence with lightly-colored toys. The brightness fades on lighter colors. White becomes ivory and such...
That color thing happens with time (years) and with sun light interaction. I doubt Hasbro caring for 1G Furbie's decoloration... I read on Facebook that Celestia was colored pink in response to demographic's preferences (marketing babble for "Girls, we command you to like her pink") So, I'm just suuure that Applejack's lack of hat or Twillight's reversed mane are on purpose for the same reasons.
I got a commissioned pony made out of pipe cleaners from this artisan: http://ponycrafter.deviantart.com/gallery/ In all seriousness, there are many fan-made ponies that are far superior, and often cheaper, than the Hasbro stuff. Unless you're collecting them, I would just seek out the fan-made ones.
Wow, those are pretty accurate, it even has the cutie mark right (which the mcdonalds versions apparantly doesn't), if I would get anything it would be these. I do not normally buy toys though, but sometimes it is tempting. I do think Celestia toy being pink is pretty dumb, after all, all girls do not have pink as their favorite colour, regardless of the stereotype, not all boys like blue either, it is unfair assuming so. Despite, I would not count on the younger audience of the show being all girls, there is no reason boy children would not watch this show too. I am normally very strict regarding accuracy to source material, but to be fair, I do not think anyone could predict how popular FIM would get outside of its intended audience, and kids are usually not as picky as collectors.
....*squee* Maybe they just aren't for sale in Canada, or I haven't looked at the right places yet... *cough*Rural living sucks*cough* :derpe:
Then again, I pay for quality. Depends on who makes your custom pony commission. Mine were $30-35 each. The blind bag ones that my friend makes are cheaper but I've seen her Derpy blind bag go from $5 to $47 on eBay.
