It's been about three years. You'd think someone would write something like this already. [size=+1]Community Post #120[/size] [size=+2]Between-Season Gulf Survival Guide Issue #1[/size] The Community Post is many things. It's my little platform to vent because I'm writing it so there. You can't see it but if you object, I'm sticking my tongue out at you. Anyway, it's also a little showcase of whatever jokes I can muster while hurriedly typing something out, shoving my half-baked witticisms in where I think they might get a reaction. But first and foremost, The Post is here to inform you. To show you what's going on and what looks good from the week gone by. This week, I want to expand that. You see; year in, year out the fandom just winds down as it sits in the basking glow of having just finished another course of ponies. It'll then sit around, waiting for the next, growing steadily more in need of a top up. The fast is hard and there's plenty of things people do: rewatch the show, look up fan art, read/write fanfics. All perfectly acceptable things to do. Seriously! Do them! It's an excellent idea. But, there's more we can do. Far, far more as this isn't a perfect solution. Some ponies don't write or can't be bothered with reading. Some ponies have probably watched the show back, forth, sideways, up and down till the cows come home. And then some. Art is awesome but new episodes are better. So what then? Simple. This guide will take the form of a new addition to the Community Post (currently in beta (feel free to suggest additions to this)) has a few stipulations: You'll be able to get them reasonably easily No extortionate price tags. No requirements for huge distances. If I can get it without trouble, you can too. If you share a tip from the guide, be kind and recommend the issue you got it from It's only fair Each entry must be of high quality or have long lasting appeal Somewhat subjective but something that is obviously well made and very well presented on top of being simply awesome at what it does is a big plus Trying something new and liking it doesn't make you any less of a Fan or Brony Well, I want to spell it out because there's a chance that somepony would get uncomfortable with the idea of being suggested to look into something non-pony on a pony site. I'm covering my flank more than anything with this. I don't know about some members are but one of the best ways of cheering yourself up I've found is to try something new. I'm serious. 100%. And then an extra 20% just to make sure. If you're in a lull, branch out a little. If you do, you might find something else to enjoy. Besides, it's also more things to combine with ponies. Lastly, you'll never guess what cropped up. To cut a long story short: Majora's Mask is getting a 3DS remake. And somehow, they made the moon even more unsettling!! And now! The first Survival Guide! [size=+1]- Survival Guide[/size] [size=+2]Randomised Pokemon[/size] Download Randomiser App Here Here's a little bit of surreal fun: what if you could play Pokemon for the first time again? With a few simple fiddles with a rom of Pokemon (obviously, we don't condone piracy but digital copies of Pokemon you also physically own are generally fine), you can play a strange, new version of Pokemon that will test your knowledge and skill all over again in an unexpected way. When I played this, it had been screwed up in such a way that where a Pokemon would appear was altered but it's level had been scaled as if it was always supposed to be there. Also, the Pokemon's types had all been messed with, causing random and strange alterations. This also comes with Pokemon moves, where they could learn almost anything that their new type allows. So, you could walk into the tall grass the first time and find a level 3 Moltres that was Bug and Ghost type. And, like me, you could manage to catch it using your Electric type Polywag. So, not only is Moltres dead but Polywag is generating enough static to shock things. For the best results, play in groups so that you can relay new intel to each other. Because now you not only need to re-learn the entire set of Pokemon in the game, but also how they'll grow from level to level as they still learned new moves each time. If you love Pokemon but are bored with the normal versions, how about stepping into Pokemon Wonderland? [size=+2]Homestar Runner[/size] Begin Clicking Around Here If you are already well versed in Homestar, explain to those that don't why they ought to. Homestar Runner.com is a long-standing flash cartoon sight that's been going for yonks but it still just as silly, funny and enjoyable as it always has been. While it does make often jokes related to earlier cartoons, requiring a lot of watching of the earlier cartoons simply to understand the lionshare of these references but they're generally just little nods and winks. Besides, it's what Wiki's are for. Either way, there are entire afternoons of SBMails waiting for you right here, alone. If you have the patience, then digging up this little relic of the last decade could be worth your time. It's expertly made and expertly written. Go for it. And now, it's arcade time. Over the last few weeks, I've been trying out a few MLP inspired games on PC on my Let's Play show (every Thursday). And, while some are interesting, these are the cream of the crop of what I tried. They're in differing levels of completion and a couple of them are demos but I still think they're worth your time. Check them out. Fans of Phoenix Wright will find a lot to like here. People that find Navi from Ocarina of Time irritating will want to bury a hatchet into their version of Pinkie Pie as she appears every five minuets and destroys the games sense of flow. But, blow past that and there's a well made, enjoyable and challenging entry to Brony games here. And that's it for this week.
