Xcom's just a classic turn-based tactics game, that's becoming a shooter... The main point of the article, is questioning why so many games, are being made as action RPGs, shooters, etc... And talking about the good qualities, of turn-based video games.
My guess would be that it's because RPGs and shooters are what sells nowadays. (By the way, I didn't actually read the entire article. Just kinda skimmed through it so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.)
Agreed, the idea however is that the turn-based games, for the most part, are becoming more neglected by publishers... And how more and more games published, are real-time instead of turn-based... And especially, how certain games series, even (X-Com as the example) go from the original turn-based format they originally had, and become real-time games.. You'll have to read the whole article to understand, admittedly...
Oh, I think I understand what the article is about now. Thing is, I've never even heard of X-Com or see any of their work. Can't say for sure I agree or disagree. Maybe the change from turn-based format to real-time is for the better. You'll never know until you give it a try.
Grr... Dan. Why am I shipped with Saikyo. :derpe: ______________________ Anyways, I love Dark Souls! Since the game is worldwide just limited to each console, I paired up with a JP Player (Summoned him) and we dominated anyone that came to invade my world. I was the decoy (most of the time...) and "she" demolished everyone with magic and probably some +10/Fire Katana. I would love to PvP some more but if it's 1v1, I'd get my flank handed to me just because... (I stopped playing Dark Souls today after one of the invaders backstabbed me with a OHKO. Dang lightning spear...also backstabbed my partner after I died, she didn't die. She probably killed him maybe.) Gotta love how every region goes all in one server. Besides PS3 / 360 users don't go against each other, at least we get to play with foreigners. tl;dr? Dark Souls is so awesome!
Hmm, I never played X-Com either... but I've played enough turn-based to get what the article's saying is all... Basically, it's arguing that the turn-based format should recieve more attention from publishers nowadays, is all... It's not fully against the changing from turn-based to real-time, as concerned with the decreasing amount of turn-based games nowadays...

Art is by DeviantArt-ist Mixermike622 Link to art's DeviantArt page: http://mixermike622.deviantart.com/#/d4cchkd Sorry Derpy Hooves, I thought pony-art stuff like this goes into the "Carousel Boutique: Visual Art". Sorry again Derpy.
The lack of turn-based games doesn't really bother me, lol. The only ones I've played were Disgaea 3 and Halo Wars, which were both really great. And after grinding 200+ hours in Disgaea, I don't think I can go back to turn-based. Anyway, I understand what the article is getting at. The lack of turn-based format is a little sad. It'd be nice to see something new.
Because we're awesome! And only awesome people ship-- Wait.
I saw some South Park/MLP:FiM art today that makes me wonder: How long do you think it will be before the cast of South Park will make an episode that makes fun of Bronies, or how stubborn-people and news channels are reacting about Bronies? lol
DRD and Saikyo right now: :Trollestia: Kinda explains why they both aren't on right now... :derpe: Let's see, I think Saikyo will be T-Pain. Hmm, who should DRD be?
Johnson, but he's busy repairing the fourth wall right now. Sorry. I like being T-Pain. Makes me feel like Sha-taying. Ah, well, at least I actually was worthy enough to get a shipping partner. As much as I hate it...
It seems my chaos causing was successful. At this point I would like to dissapoint DRD and anyone else interested in this ship taking place and remind that Saikyo is, in fact, married. Unless... Yeah, not gonna go there.
In that case, I will go EXACTLY where I was going with that. Nowhere. So, all ye who dare, follow me! Follow the perilous path...
