All credit for the first five stages go to Klondike Kream and her video. This sixth stage can be reflected as an extreme state of the fifth stage of development and deals with the brony's obsession over anything dealing with ponies. The threshold into this stage (aptly named “obsession”) is typically parallel to the purchasing of merchandise. The reaches of this stage extend all the way up to LARPing or attending a Comicon, where the stage six brony LARPs as a character in the tv series, resulting in achieving the Mystical Stage Seven. This is a parallel to the Super Ultimate digivolution from the series Digimon. The brony is now in the supreme brony level, but similar to digimon,after the fight/event is over, they return to a more comfortable level, in this case stage 6 brony.

With all due respect it sounds as if you're taking this way too seriously. If you like the show, cool, if you don't, just as cool. These levels, or stages, seem comparable to religion, if I can be honest. Bronydom is not a religion. I don't even like calling myself a brony anymore, because it sounds way to serious. It's no longer something I identify with, it's a label because I'm a fan of a certain TV show. Granted, I am deep rooted in this community, and that's something to be proud of, but to consider being 'enlightened' and 'converted' scares me a little, frankly. To take this community seriously is understandable. I have serious friends here, and I find that important. However, the fandom itself, for me at least, is just a medium in which items and elements of the show can be discussed, and artistic mediums can be utilised. Basically, talk about ponies, draw ponies and listen to ponies. Taking morals from the show is nothing bad, as they are good morals, but taking bronydom to heart that excessively isn't something I'd recommend personally. Apologies if I've come off a little ignorant, I just fail to see how liking the show is anything more than just that, liking a show.
I am a bit over the top. But I have good reasons for it. I have worked a lot harder and improved my skills on my hobbies because of poinies and I have also made a huge amount of friends both online and now IRL too. I went to a brony meetup and even though I was sick and had to leave early it was an amazing experience. I am kind of religious about the show, but it is because being part of a community is so much fun. I guess it's the same kind of social joy and sense of belonging people get from church. I have never experienced that before, it's amazing and I get to do it without sacrificing my individuality. Out of 40 bronies who were at the meetup I'm the only real Fluttershy fan. I was also starting to lose motivation with my career. But ponies have given it a boost up the backside, due to me being able to ponify some of my assignments to gain the motivation to get through it until the original reason I wanted to study film was re-realised. I owe so much to this fandom. Without it I probably would have spriraled into depression. As I didn't have much that was exciting to live for. Now I have meetups, watching new episodes in livestream, finding the online community I have been most dedicated to. Without all that life would have been a grind without any short term goals.
Honestly I do agree with Lupr I really dont like the stages of brony thing I am a huge fan of the show sure, but when you throw in the stages of brony it kinda makes me feel bad to be a brony, I mean I don't want people who dont watch the show being most friends IRL and family calling me a brony only bronies can truley call a brony a BRONY and i dont really like the over use of the word "brony" cus were Ponies what the buck is a brony?
The whole religion aspect brings about a topic: What is religion? A religion is a set of beliefs and tenets, most of which lack any evidence, that several people possess and preform actions which have a ritualistic, or repetitive and symbolic, nature based off of. By this definition, bronydom isn't a religion, since it lacks the latter for most people, although for some, there are traditions based on the show that they believe all should follow. As such, we can safely say that here, whether or not it is a religion is up to the individual. In any case, we're applying objective thinking to a subjective concept. Something is being done ammusingly wrong.
That is a VERY touchy subject. I don't feel there is any need to look into being a brony as something of that magnitude. The is a difference between doing something "Religiously" and "Religion" Besides, the ponies we KNOW are not real/created by man...with most gods, there is a debate on the evidence involved with one existing on a NON manmade level and holding magical/supernatural ability. We know that the pony religion (assuming there is a legitimate god worshiping ponychurch) is manmade, so it isn't as inconclusive as the other religions because we know it's origin. Now, do they have a right to do that? Yes. Do I think the fandom is taken that seriously by most? without a debate explosion, i would like to point of the fact that the seriousness that you are all treating my 'enlightenment' to creates an ironic twist on this entire subject. i merely use religion as a metaphor for easily explaining my point. in response to SunBurn: yes, yes it is. an example is where a person schitsoprenically believes they used Tardis to travel to Equestria to live with the Ponies. Fanatic fans are nothing new to anything. Look at Star Trek and Star Wars. However, I was never a huge fan of those. This one is amusing and inspiring. It instills values, beliefs, and morals that are good for any viewer to embrace. How they choose to channel their affection for the show is entirely up to them. In my case, I am a huge fan: -I collect most of the pony-inspired music and remixes. -I read some of the fanfiction. -I collect awesome pictures of characters I like. -It has inspired me to write. Nothing original, but writing fanfiction has renewed my interest in the creative arts. Articulating and imagining. However, I do not own any merchandise (though I desire some shirts and a few plushies or one of the really awesome high quality Trixie figurines). I've wanted to attend a meetup, but plans fell through (and the meetup was at a massive convention, nonetheless). I don't really understand the fanaticism related. I enjoy the fandom and I'm glad to be a part of it. It makes for a really fun discussion or topic among friends and others online. Everyone chooses how they convey their love for the show in varying degrees.
I have recently gotten more into it then ever because I have discovered real life bronies. Before that I was a social recluse and the only people I could call friends were my classmates and weren't interested in hanging around with with me outside of school. I have move away from my best friends and I had to go to the Supernova convention completely on my own the year before last. Having so many friends and being considered a good friend is something I haven't experienced until now. Honestly this could have happened if I became a part of any fandom. But it started with this one, it escalated and it has now had the ultimate payoff, which I will lose if I ever leave it, or it ends. Well maybe the friends I make in the fandom will be friends for life. For the record I love the term 'brony'. I like having something to identify myself from other people. There are other words I used too, these word culminate into describing who I am.
this is a perfect segway into something my friend said. he has created a disorder called Pony Obsession Disorder (OPD or POD) this causes both an ADD and an OCD type effect, with everything of course relating to Ponies i have POD. though i would hardly say i suffer from it. it is always at the very least tolerable.
