All right. First, of course, you should read through the rules here: http://www.everypony.com/forums/showthread.php?13488-Basic-Rules That should cover the basic concepts needed to make a character. It doesn't cover everything, though. After you read the rules we'll create a character sheet for you, here is the template, along with probably hundreds of example character sheets: http://www.everypony.com/forums/sho...aracter-Sheets&p=463036&viewfull=1#post463036 If you have any problems or questions about doing the previous two things, just PM me and I can help! After you create your own character and have a grasp of basic rules, we can schedule a time for me to be in Chat and help explain anything you didn't get to you, hopefully at the same time for everybody, and possibly do a practice game. Steps: 1) Read basic rules (first link) 2) Read Character Creation rules (second link) 3) Create a character sheet, ask for help if needed 4) Post the character sheet in this thread! 5) After getting character sheet approved, go to chat at scheduled time for Q&A time and a Demo Game with Legion (and hopefully the rest of the initiates).
I think I got something, but I'm not 100% sure it is ok. My oc is an alicorn, but i didn't made him too Overpowered. It took me like a pair of hours to do it Name: Darkness knight Gender: Male Age Group: young adult. 20 years. Race: Alicorn (fresh out) Cutie Mark/Special Talent: A sword. Quite skilled using the shield and sword. (+1 in rolls using sword and shield) Class: Warrior Appearance: Gray fur. Black mane and tail. Blue eyes. Always wears a necklace with an apple jewel in it. Basic stats: Health: 175 Stamina: 50 Resilience: 10 Ferocity: 5 Speed: 4 Awareness: 2 Creativity: 2 Willpower: 7 Skills: Power Strike Type: Active Cost: 4 Stamina Acquired: Warrior Class Declared before an attack is rolled in melee. If the attack succeeds, the user may add another 1d12 to the damage. This additional damage also hurts the target’s Stamina. Counter Type: Instant Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Warrior Class Can be activated after an enemy attacks the user. As long as the enemy is within melee range, the user gets to make an immediate attack against the enemy. This can be used once between the user’s turns. Taunt Type: Active Cost: 4 Stamina Count: 6 Acquired: Warrior Class The user rolls 2d12+Ferocity, while their target rolls 2d12+Willpower. Inside of combat, this skill will force the user to be the target’s focus. Outside of combat, this will increase the chance of the target initiating a combat with the user. Toughness Type: Passive Acquired: Beefy! Award Once per turn, the user can re-roll one of their d12 used during a Resilience-based check. Iron Mind Type: Passive Acquired: Steel Will Award Once per turn, the user can re-roll one of their d12 used during a Willpower-based check. Empower Type: Instant Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Steel Will Award Activates an artifact, enchanted item, magical device, etc. Any rolls required beyond that, count or timing depend on the device. Spells: Light Type: Support Fire Spell Cost: No cost Using this spell, the user creates a light at the end of their horn. This illuminates a radius of feet equal to the user’s Willpower. May require a willpower check if object is significantly heavy or difficult to hold still. Cannot target self. This spell cannot be used in combat. Achievements: Beefy: 7 or more Resilience Reward: Toughness skill, +25 health Steel Mind: 7 or more Willpower Reward: Iron mind skill, Empower skill Inventory/Equipment: Bio: An exiled knight from far away for the disappearance of his brother, prince of his homeland. When he was a little colt, he refused his title as prince and become a knight. He got his cutie mark after defending an old friend of his a long time ago. He roamed around Equestria for almost a year and a half until Luna found him one night and gave him asylum, falling in love with here since the first moment he saw her. After some time he managed to save his brother, who later on went back home while Darky stayed in Equestria just to be with Luna. The next year he become an Alicorn. After living with Luna for almost 2 years, he finally got married with her. (If I´m allowed to.)
All right...looks like you did lots of reading but not quite enough lol. Here's stuff you gotta fix: -Your cutie mark bonus is too strong. +1 ferocity/resilience is a lot. You could have something like "+1 to rolls using swords and shields" or something, though, that would work. -Dark Knight is not an actual class, the list of classes are linked on the character sheet link I provided. -Your skills, health, and stamina are based on what class you pick, you do not get to pick and choose your starting skills unless you choose an advanced class, which I would not recommend for your first character. When you pick a class, it should list what the skills are under that class. Those are your starting skills. For example, a warrior/fighter gets double strike, counter, and power strike, as well as 150 health and 50 stamina. -Achievements, except for the ones earned by having 7 or more stat points in a single stat, must be earned. Therefore as a starting character, you should have no achievements except the ones for having 7 or more points in a single stat. -Spells are only available to mage classes for starting characters, though you can get access to spells later in the game through various methods. I highly recommend you do not start as a mage class, since there are a lot more rules relating to magic than there are relating to other classes. -You start off with no items, and only the GM (the person running the game) is allowed to create special items such as the items you made. -You somehow have two willpower stats, a 7 and a 10?
(Wow it'll take a while to put togehter my first EPRP character so please bear with me and not to mention i have limited time on the computer too. Other times i'm on my phone. However when i get more advanced i want my main oc Lunar Shield to join the fun. To learn more about him read these rps: The Galactic War, The Equestrian Civil War, LunasBiggesFan and Prince of the Night's RP, Nightmares in the Night and For Black Hole his nightmare form read Nightmare Spectra ((The recent pages)))
I'm gonna try this. I'm certain I'll make mistakes, so help is appreciated. Name: Dreamer Gender: Male Age Group: Early Adult Race: Earth Pony Cutie Mark/Special Talent: A book with a magnifying glass on it. His writing skill allows him to try and out predict others by thinking about them as characters (adds +1 to rolls when avoiding attacks, and when in aggressive social situations) Class: Artist Health: 100 Stamina: 100 Resilience: 3 Ferocity: 2 Speed: 3 Awareness: 5 Creativity: 8 Willpower: 3 Skills: Medium of art: literature Type: Cost: Aquired: Artist Class (honestly not sure what to have this do. Maybe improve social interactions, or distract things by telling a story) Triumphant Display Type: Active Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Artist Class The artist takes up their turn and shows off their art piece. The artist rolls 2d12 and adds their art’s Quality factor to the roll. Outside of combat, the art will attract those in the vicinity, who will approach and either look it over, or read it, depending on the art type. In combat, the art will apply a low-level magical effect to allies or enemies. This effect will match the artwork’s emotional element source. Musing Type: Active Cost: 12 Stamina Count: 6 Acquired: Artist Class The artist is able to use this on an ally within melee range of them. They will begin to muse and suggest ideas, and through this they will restore 2d12+Creativity in Stamina to their ally. They can use this on themselves. Achievements: Inventory/Equipment: I think I may have missed a step, but otherwise I'm just curious about achievements, my first class skill, and non-class skills.
Let's see where this goes: Name: Hammerhead Gender: Male Age Group: Early 30s Race: Pegasus Cutie Mark/Special Talent: Two crossed hammers/building (+1 to all rolls using hammer) Class: Worker Appearance: Orange coat, brown mane and tail, blue eyes Health: 75 Stamina: 125 Resilience: 6 Ferocity: 3 Speed: 2 Awareness: 4 Creativity: 4 Willpower: 5 Skills: Tool-Use (Hammer) Type: Active Cost: 0 Stamina Acquired: Worker Class This skill is exactly what it says on the tin. It's a hammer. Take a Breather Type: Active Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Worker Class This skill allows the Worker to take a rest for a bit, and end up feeling revitalized. If combat is going on, this skill will take 3 turns, and will only work if they reach the 3rd turn uninterrupted. Outside of combat, it just takes 10 minutes or so. After the period, the worker will receive restored Health and Stamina as if they rested for a 4 hour period. This skill can only be used once between actual resting periods. Gettin’ It Done Type: Active Cost: 20 Stamina Acquired: Worker Class This skill allows the worker to add another 2d12 result to another skill that requires a roll, or any general action that requires manual labor. This cannot be used in conjunction with Willpower or Creativity based skills. Achievements: None yet Inventory/Equipment: None yet
Let's see if I can still do this... Time for a revamp. "Hmf? Well, what might this be? I smell curiosity. Greetings." Name: Grey Banquo (revamped) Species: Pegasus Pony Gender: Male Age: 24 Class: Ranger Description: Grey coated pony, with pitch black mane and tail, with dark grey stripes running down his mane. He has a toned, but not very muscular body, golden yellow eyes and two golden earrings in his left ear. He has multiple, visible scars on his body, ranging from his neck area to his hind legs. Sometimes he wears a black cloth decorated with white, runic symbols worn over his right eye. Cutie Mark: Runic, specific symbol referring to uncertain ancestry: -2 on Awareness rolls in lit area +3 on Awareness rolls in unlit area, while wearing said black cloth over one of his eyes [STATS] -]Health: 100 -]Stamina: 100 ]Ferocity: 5 ]Resilience: 3 ]Speed: 4 ]Awareness: 7 ]Creativity: 5 ]Willpower: 0 [SKILLS] ~]Pegasus Flight -]Lay in Wait -]Counter -]Snap Shot ]Spot ]Gauge [SHELVED SKILLS] N/A [ACHIEVEMENTS] -]Scouter: 7 or more Awareness Rewards: +Gauge +Spot [INVENTORY] -]Decorated Black Cloth (see: Cutie Mark) ]Large Satchel for storage (size comparable to a modern scholar's backpack) [WEAPONS] N/A [ARMOUR] N/A [COMPANIONS] N/A I wanted to post it here because I'd like to join in on the 'training round', partly because I would absolutely not mind to help the GM out a little bit with explaining stuff, AND because I just wanted to make sure everything about the sheet is all-right. Last but not least, is the quirky stat change thanks to my Cutie Mark acceptable, or even too weak? I don't know, since it has a buff AND debuff depending on one variable, it's hard to say.
Anyways, here's my character. Name: Stealth Shade Gender: Male Age Group: Early 20s Race: Pegasus Cutie Mark/Special Talent: A shuriken covered in smoke. It adds +1 to Ferocity. Class: Scout Health: 100 Stamina: 100 Resilience: 4 Ferocity: 5 Speed: 7 Awareness: 6 Creativity: 1 Willpower: 1 Skills: Spot Hidden Type: Passive Acquired: Scout Class The scout automatically gains +4 to spotting anything that has been hidden by somepony else. This includes hidden characters, objects, traps, etc. This does not automatically give them their awareness stat as a bonus, which requires Spot. Lay in Wait Type: Active Cost: 4 Stamina Acquired: Scout Class Hides the scout, who makes a 2d12+Creativity check. This skill only works if nobody is actually looking at the scout at the time. To be spotted by another character, the other character has to beat the scout’s initial roll. If somepony passes close by, or looks for the scout at a distance, they may roll 2d12. If somepony looking for the scout passes close by, or has Spot and is looking for the scout, they may roll 2d12+Awareness. If the scout makes an action against a pony who is nearby and has not spotted the scout, they do not get a defensive roll. If the scout makes an action against a pony at range who has not spotted them, then the stat that would normally be the target number for the scout. Danger Sense Type: Passive Acquired: Scout Class While the scout is not in the company of allies, they are extra-aware of their surroundings. This allows them to spot enemies at a greater distance, and in a way “sense” where they are coming from. This won’t help for noiseless traps and the like, though. However, this does allow the scout the timing needed to spot a good place to hide and Lay in Wait. Achievements: Inventory/Equipment:
You have it mostly right! Here are a few tips. -The 'Medium of Art' counts as a skill, it allows you to produce that kind of art with great quality. Without a skill in, say, painting, you cannot make paintings that you will be able to use Triumphant Display with. (Obviously you can still paint though) -Because your Creativity is over 7, you get the achievement: Broad Mind: 7 or more Creativity Reward: 2 Skills or spells of choice So you can look through the skills, including skills from other classes, and pick any two you want. - - Auto Merge - - Perfect! I don't see anything wrong with him, except that you forgot his cutie mark bonus. - - Auto Merge - - Well, since we're sticking to basic classes for new RPers, I would say it depends on the aspect you want. If you want stealing stuff, Treasure Hunters are not bad at that. They're also pretty good at getting treasure, incidentally. If you want moving fast, you probably want Bolter, they can dodge attacks using speed instead of blocking using resilience. There are also Scouts, who can hide and ambush things that walk past, and additionally they have Danger Sense, though it only works when they are alone. Remember that you can always get new skills and stats later by earning achievements, so if your character isn't exactly how you want them to be, don't worry! - - Auto Merge - - Your character looks good, I'll accept that cutie mark, it will just be situational. Probably it could do without being reliant on the black cloth. :3 - - Auto Merge - - Your character looks good as well! Cutie marks give you a buff to doing something related to your character's special talent. The more specific or obscure the talent is, the bigger the buff is. For example, if I wanted my talent to be music, I could have a +1 to playing music. If I wanted my talent to be stringed instruments, perhaps +2 or +3 to stringed instruments. You might get a +4 or +5 to playing the ukelele. Just run it by me first and I'll approve it if it's fine.
Yes, it looks good now And here are the skills in the achievement for having 7 willpower: Iron Mind Type: Passive Acquired: Steel Will Award Once per turn, the user can re-roll one of their d12 used during a Willpower-based check. Empower Type: Instant Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Steel Will Award Activates an artifact, enchanted item, magical device, etc. Any rolls required beyond that, count or timing depend on the device.
Oh, the cloth isn't a way to balance it out more, it's simply something that comes from his character, his storyline. I don't like to just make a character and use it in EPRP, I integrate characters fleshed out to some extent into EPRP, and the buff he gets from his Cutie Mark actually exists in his story. So I think I'll keep it.
Ok. Name: Dreamer Gender: Male Age Group: Early Adult Race: Earth Pony Cutie Mark/Special Talent: A book with a magnifying glass on it. His writing skill allows him to try and out predict others by thinking about them as characters (adds +1 to rolls when avoiding or blocking attacks, and when in aggressive social situations) Class: Artist Health: 100 Stamina: 100 Resilience: 3 Ferocity: 2 Speed: 3 Awareness: 5 Creativity: 8 Willpower: 3 Skills: Medium of art: literature Type: Passive Aquired: Artist Class Literary works of art produced are much better than others. Triumphant Display Type: Active Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Artist Class The artist takes up their turn and shows off their art piece. Provide Aid Type: Active Cost: 5 Stamina Count: 4 Acquired: Stalwart Class (Broad Mind) Usable on any ally within melee range. The stalwart picks the ally up and helps them get a small amount of respite. The user rolls 2d12+Willpower. One of the rolled dice, (user’s choice,) is applied to healing the target’s Stamina. The remaining dice and added Willpower are applied to healing the target’s Health. Calm Ally Type: Active Cost: 10 Stamina Count: 4 Acquired: Stalwart Class (Broad Mind) Usable on an ally within melee range. The stalwart automatically clears the ally of any Fear, Berserk, Forgetfulness, or Spacey condition the ally is afflicted with. This does not have any affect if the ally caused the condition themselves. Achievements: Broad Mind: 7 or more creativity Reward: 2 skills or spells of my choice Inventory/Equipment: I think that's good. I'm going for a strong support. Capable of restoring and buffing allies.
Backup if Stealth dies somehow. Name: Pink Beard Gender: Male Age Group: 50s Race: Diamond Dog Cutie Mark/Special Talent: His talent is being able to find hidden things easily which adds +1 to Awareness. Class: Treasure Hunter Health: 100 Stamina: 100 Resilience: 4 Ferocity: 6 Speed: 2 Awareness: 6 Creativity: 4 Willpower: 2 Skills: Disable Device Type: Active Cost: 5 Stamina Acquired: Treasure Hunter Class With this skill, the user can try to open a lock, or disable a trap, or other mechanical device, (without smashing it,) by rolling 2d12+Awareness. This roll goes against the device’s complexity. Identify Type: Passive Acquired: Treasure Hunter Class This allows the owner of the skill to identify items on a roll of 2d12+Awareness. Successful identification tells of what the item does, and how much it is worth. Pilfer Type: Active Cost: 10 Stamina Acquired: Treasure Hunter Class This skill is used to take a loose object without anypony noticing that the user took it, rather just making it disappear without the user needing to go into hiding. The user of this skill rolls 2d12+Creativity. Anyone around the user rolls 2d12+Awareness. As long as nobody rolls above the user, they get away with it. Achievements: Inventory/Equipment:
Let me help you with that. http://www.everypony.com/threads/basic-rules.13488/ http://www.everypony.com/threads/everypony-role-play-system-character-sheets.12351/ I'm not sure if this is still going on or not but I just provided these because the links since they don't work anymore.
