What's the consensus on the age of the mane six? Seems to me they have characteristics of both adults and teenagers, what's everypony else think?

I'd say so too, If it weren't for the fact that all except Applejack live alone (does Pinkie live with the Cakes, or just visit them a lot?) and Rarity runs a business. Could just be that doing those things is acceptable a younger age in Equestria though...

my theory is that ponies have shorter lives and therefor needs to move out and get a job sooner then humans. Also I think Pinkie rents her room from the Cakes
Well that video's certainly... thorough. Basically says they can't really narrow it down much more than between 17-19, assuming they age roughly the same as us. Aside from some kind of quantum age theory, I can probably go with that. Thanks for taking the time to find that!

Yeah, it's difficult to pin down their exact ages, but ultimately, I think it doesn't matter much. They are clearly old enough to live on their ow, have jobs/careers and take the occasional responsibility of saving the world, yet young enough to still have to figure out life and relationships and friendships and whatever while still being cute. So yeah, late teens or young adults sounds about right.
Teenagers. The Human Six are supposed to be near-exact duplicates of the Mane Six, and they are teenagers. Therefore, the Mane Six are teenagers.
Princess Celestia is well over a thousand years old, but Principal Celestia looks to be in her thirties. The CMC seem to be about eleven or twelve in Equestria (based on the Cutie Mark = Puberty theory), but are freshman in the EqG-verse. Time clearly passes differently on the other side of the mirror. Also, the human Mane Six seem to be seniors in the movies, which would put them at about eighteen years old. Still teenagers, but technically adults.
The video posted on the previous page takes all of this (and more) into account. The conclusion seemed to be 17-19.
