If I were to choose a favorite episode out of all the current seasons, I'd go with Luna Eclipsed (season 2; episode 4). The reasoning behind this is simply because I really love Halloween &/or Nightmare Night. It's definitely my favorite holiday. Thus it was just really well written. I loved the message behind it. Not to always judge or be afraid of who you don't understand. M.A. Larson did a nice job.
Well that depends which Season are we talking about Season One wise The Best Night Ever Season Two wise Canterlot Wedding part one and part two Season Three wise Magical Mystery Cure Season Four wise Twilight's Kingdom part one and part two.
Twilight's Kingdom. It was the episode that truly cemented Twilight's destiny, it had a great villain, and it showed a tremendous amount of character development for Discord.
All-time favorite is still Read it and Weep but the S4 finale is almost dead even with it... almost. It had an epic battle with the perfect villain and like Rid mentioned, a good bit of development for Discord.
Ordinarily I'd thank M.A. Larson, but by this point he probably wouldn't know whether or not I were being sarcastic. Anyhoo, I don't think I've ever really stopped and considered a favorite...in fact, there are very few episodes that I don't really like. I guess the ones that stand out in my mind the most are Hurricane Fluttershy, A Canterlot Wedding, Wonderbolt Academy, Putting Your Hoof Down, Pinkie Apple Pie, Twilight's Kingdom and Twilight Time. I dunno. There are so goshdurn many good episodes that I couldn't even begin to single one out as my fave.
Probably Return of Harmony, because Discord, or maybe The Last Roundup; it's fairly RD and AJ heavy, has Derpy, plus it was the first episode I ever watched properly. Pickle Barrel Kumquat
Look before you sleep - My first episode and I enjoyed the Rarity/AJ feud. AJ quickly became a favorite of mine. Wonderbolts Academy - Totally wrapped up in RD and Spitfire interaction. Plus Lightning Dust was kind cool. Griffon the bush off - I liked Gilda. Pinkie was annoying as hell in that episode though. Damn.

It's really tough to pick as there are so many awesome episodes, but if I had to pick it'd two. Lesson Zero and It's about time. Despite just loving crazy twilight, they were both episodes I could heavily relate to. I have issues dealing with stress and letting small problems seem big and always worrying about problems to lay ahead. I think the favorite figure I own is of future twilight as it reminds to just stay in the present, and deal with issues when they come around.
It's About Time, hands down. Not only do I love properly executed time travel (which even Hollywood blockbusters like Looper have trouble with), but the episode itself is just completely flawless. The jokes hit hard and there isn't a single problem. The narrative flows smoothly from problem to problem and the characters are all at their best. Heck, Pinkie manages to still be hilarious even without the overt gags she usually relies on. It's one of the only two episodes of the whole show I've given a 10/10 rating to, next to Return of Harmony.
