Jeff started to shiver, desperation clear in his eyes. Dallas was helping Dakota, probably a big thing for her, he couldn't deprive her of that. He heard the cracking from the bench. Mason. He knew who this one was. He was afraid to get his attention, but he waved for him anyway, signaling him over.
Twitch. Tilt. Mason moved his head to look at the fellow who beckoned him. Curiosity had gotten the better of him. The behemoth slowly trudged over, massive arms and ham-hands swinging like corpses from his side. He plopped down on the cold wood, nearly breaking the bench. He looked with an eerie gaze, and with unseen eyes...
Dakota chuckled at his joke, she was never approached by a sensible person before. She rubbed her eyes and quickly pulled her hand away. She forgot about the scratch marks going down her eyes.
Dallas saw the scratch marks, he became concerned about this, but, decided to ask about it another time, "So, how did you end up here?"
Dakota could tell he noticed, and looked away. "Depression and hallucinations." She mumbled, then looked at him. "You?"
Dallas sighed, as he sat down, "This... may take some time." After minutes of explaining how his parents were huge cultists, he finally told her how they mistreated him, how they would not feed him at all, so, he had a job at one point. His parents beat due to this, and one night he snuck into their room and found that he was only being raised as a living sacrifice. When they had attempted to kill him, he had no choice but to do the necessary, kill them. He was sent to the hospital due to several broken bones, then, after some time he could not find peace and chose to come here. Dallas hoped he had not scared her in any way, he even assured her unless he gets in a fight then he is a peaceful man.
Much more gently than before, but still speaking in an accent, he asked Mason, "There any chance ya could go to my room, 132, first floor, without no pesky staff seein' ya, get the meds I refused to take for five years from inside my mattress, and bring 'em to me? If I ain't right when ya get back, you got permission to force feed me a pill."
Dakota frowned and touched his shoulder lightly, as if it were a flower that bruised with slightest stroke. "Im sorry to hear that." She looked at him, "Hopefully you're better now?" She remarked and questioned.
"Yes, I have gotten over my parents and now I do have a caretaker," Dallas referred back to the doctor from earlier, "Thank you for not being scared, normally others would be afraid of me. But you, your not?"
"I don't need to be scared. You were defending yourself. I am ashamed in the people who were frightened." she then chuckled. "Care-takers are fun to scare." She recalled past memories.
Dallas could not help but laugh at it, "That is true," he then stood, "You want to come out?" He asked gently.
"I guess so.." She did not want, but did so anyways and retrieved herself from the table and stood, she blinked as her eyes adjusted to the sun. More pale scars appeared as the sun shone down on her face.
"Oh, the hell was I thinkin'? I bet there's folks watchin' you twenty-four-seven. Sorry fer wastin' yer time, Mason, sir." He got up and ran in through the entrance to the courtyard, past who he gathered was Dallas's caretaker, trying desperately to get to his room, and his medication, before he was 'gone' again. The concern about being caught somehow skipping out on his meds for five years was gone.
Jeff reached his room, which no one seemed to notice was disturbingly easy to get into without a key. If he could recall correctly, he messed up the lock without any doctors noticing when he thought he was an expert thief. He had medication in his room that was meant to dull the effects of his condition, and he was supposed to be taking one pill on the first of every month. However, he had thought they were brainwashing drugs, so he hid them and claimed he'd been taking them. He had had a few moments of clarity in the past, and tried to reach his medication, but failed. This time, however, he'd made it in time. Frantically, he ripped open his mattress, opened an orange bottle from inside, and taken one pill. He needed a little bit, and it would be a few minutes before the aging schizo was ready to socialize again. He wondered if anyone had bothered to find out what he was doing as he leaned back against the wall, face in his palms.
Who knows how this man did it? But he did. As the little man rushed towards wherever he was going, Mason was always right behind him. But he was never seen actually even moving. The black and white peppered mask with dark, empty eyes simply looked from beneath the messy, matted hair. He was like a ghost, there one moment and someplace else the next. And as it was, it didn't look like security knew what was going on; He had silently crushed the security cameras he could, discretely, and using his height to reach them from right under the view of the cameras, one of their blind-spots. He was there, right by the door-way, slouched in order to see under the frame of the door, which he was fairly taller than, looking, staring, unnervingly.....
Jeff eventually decided to peak out of his room. A giant, masked man caught his eye, as did a destroyed security camera. "That's... how'd ya... wow..." He was genuinely impressed. This mountain appeared to have stealthily followed him all the way to his room, and smashed every single camera along the way. "Ain't you afraid a gettin' in trouble? Someone's gotta notice them feeds goin' out."
Dallas smiled, "You look better in the light, never hide yourself, even if it hurts," Dallas suggested, but no demanded, he said this in a soft tone.
"Are you trying to be touchy-feely?" She asked sarcastically, "I'm 19 years old. That crap gets annoying. Especially here." She chuckled, then smiled at him for helping her.
Dallas chuckled to himself (There seems to be a lot of chuckles these days XD) and looked to her, a little surprised at the personality change, "And you are quite welcome."
