I noticed I haven't seen one "baby" pony yet. There's the little ponies (like the cutie mark crusaders), but not babies... o.o There's a decent population of ponies too. Where do you think they are, if there are any? Could there be baby ponies at all in Friendship is Magic? Should there be or not? I think they'd be cute, if not, make for an interesting babysitting episode...
Thinking logically about it, there's little reason why we would see baby ponies. Since none of the characters that the show centres around have any relations to any babies, there aren't a lot of scenarios that would show them. It's the same reason people often ask 'why do you never see baby pigeons?' Pigeon babies are protected in the nest until they are near enough an adult, so unless you actively go into a pigeon nest looking for them, you're not going to see one. Of course, there are babies in the My Little Pony universe, as confirmed by Lauren Faust, but since any characters with babies are not the focus of the show, we don't get to see them. As you said though, maybe there will be an episode with them in the future.
I hope not... The last time Hasbro tried to make baby ponies, we got...
First and Fourth gens are the ones whose existence I acknowledge most, no offense to fans of the others. The other two, from what I've seen... -hides under covers- One seems to be based loosely on unused Arthur plots (probably had the same writer, which doesn't look like it translates well into the My Little Pony world) and the other, as seen above, looks mostly geared towards younger kids. What I mean by baby ponies would be "baby" baby ponies, not walking, talking little ponies. As Luprony said, they more than likely wouldn't be seen often, having no relation to the mane six that we yet know of. There are still parents of the mane six that haven't been introduced. Still, I think it'd be nice to see one or two on the show in this gen at some point. Considering the size of the little ponies, I'd expect the newborns and babies to be pretty tiny.
*Checks a trembling blanket* Hey Lumina, I kinda don't disliked the posted video, quite mundane, but a situation quite working in 4G series (As long the cards are put by Pinkie) that mare's crazy... Any ways, babies would appear as soon hasbro cranks out them, Lauren's team would be capable to not force them too hard. (instead of mutated baby-horse dolls, I bet on small foal-alike varmints like the 'pets' included on actual figures) Or a playset with a Pony nurse...
While I'm not strictly opposed to baby ponies (as long as they are not Pinkie Pie - really, what were the toymakers thinking?), I don't see how the show would benefit from them. Yeah, I could see there being a babysitting episode someday in the future, but that's about it (and really, how much different from Philomena's episode could it be... uhm, spontaneous combustion aside, of course).
Update and canon (?) baby ponies (??) seen. On S1E2 near ending in the party there are two very young pegasi putting a flower collar on luna. Dunno if they could be considered newborns, the fact, they look like babies.
They look a bit younger than Applebloom and most other foals that we've seen so far, that's true, but I don't think they are babies. Kindergarten age perhaps.
I agree, there should be baby ponys In MLPFIM but i wonder how they would suddenly implement this into the storyline after so many episodes Also, how would the babys be? We would need parents, and then that would bring up so many more plot twists.
So far, Pipsqweak seems to be the closest to that age. Of course, it could be his parents didn't celebrate Nightmare Night before.
Given that Ponyville seems to be about 90 percent mares and 10 percent colts and stallions, I'd suspect that the most common cause of baby ponies comes from a "male" order catalog. Probably includes a turkey baster. That, or just a few stallions have very busy evening schedules. However, I don't expect that topic to ever be covered in any episode.
Or pony pregnancy, like measles, is contagious... A pregnant mare sneezes, and the whole poniville square are carrying foal...
if any of you seen the latest ep? s2 ep.13 is all about the Cake's babies. I just want to know how the heck there great great great great grandfather's genes got into this.
