I am virtually out of the stable. in fact, i have openly spoken ablut MLP to many people at my highschool and the college i attend for PSEO. the only problem is my parents. i would love to tell my parents, but they may have a problem with the show in general (though i doubt it). the bigger problem is when i spent every night doing homework past midnight because i do pony things during the day. if i dont do those pony things, i go into pony withdrawl an cannot focus at all on my homework anyway. my friend has a similar problem so any advice i get from here i will give to him. what do you think i should do? if you have stable problems of your own, you can post them here as well and everypony (including i) will try to solve them. i have a feeling this is already a thread so sorry to those ponies who prefer me to add to already created threads.
I would suggest to just go for it and confess, but I am also 20 years old and am moving out as soon as I get a job, what shows I like is not their concern. I can't imagine any reason for your parents to not approve of the show, if they are reasonable that is, and not the type who believe in "gay recruiting" or "magic is evil" kind of stupidity. It depends of what type of people they are. For myself, only my sister and mother knows, and my sister thinks I am crazy. Friends may be more problematic though, at least for me. I have no doubt they would respect me. But I have not the courage to try a full confession. If I approach them about it in the right way though, I may convert them. I already showed one friend the deathbattle video between Starscream from transformers and Rainbow Dash, and watched his reaction at the result with glee. I think a that was a good introduction to the awesomeness of Rainbow Dash, and a good way of possibly making him curious about the show. Who can say ponies are for girls after seeing one beat the #### out of a giant robot ?
The sounds like you've fallen into the usual trap of obsession. The first thing I'd recommend is try to establish limits. If you are having physical/emotional withdrawal reactions, you really need to limit yourself so it doesn't got too far. The second thing, I think will help you a lot, is to create a system in which you doing work rewards you with pony. Say... you've done half an hours homework, you can reward yourself with half an hour browsing the forums. Completed a project you've been putting off? Listen to the radio for half an hour. The important thing is to have strict discipline to stick to this, otherwise there's little point in making it. It's good to see you enjoy the show and the community, but my advice is you never let something like this dominate your life. You still have friends and family, as well as your own health and happiness to take care of and a cartoon obsession will do little to help in the long run.
