The answer: all of them are songs from musicals that have come out in recent years... ...and all four of them are better than most "mainstream" music nowadays. I'm sorry for my brutal honesty here, but the way I see it, most modern music is horrible. Nothing but pre-fabricated pop that sounds exactly the same and rapes my ears, composed by prima donna young adults more interested in fame than the music. Music used to be great back in my days: you had Michael Jackson, Queen, the Rolling Stones, Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, Prince. Nowadays, I still listen to these four songs, while I rarely keep up with modern music. These four songs have more raw emotion, more passion and more energy than all the Lady Gagas, Justin Biebers and Demi Lovatos out there.

I myself love music from the 60's to early 90's and it is better then the drivel we get today.
Of course most modern music is horrible, but guess what? Most music from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's was horrible, too. The songs that people like get replayed until they become classics, and the mountains of dreck get forgotten. The problem with modern music is that the dreck hasn't been forgotten yet, and is overshadowing the good songs being made.
Well I still dislike modern music due to the fact I dislike pop. I can't tell the difference between good and bad. However I still respect a few good music that changes the formula and style.
Hmm, I suppose it depends on the band and what genre they identify them self's with, there is a difference between The Beatles and Justin Beiber being that one sold more copies then the other and has a wider demographic and is not repetitive but they both identify as pop. So in that case I could say that I like a minority of pop music, The Beatles produces good pop music because of the success, Style and how they evolved. But this all subjective anyway.
Well Sargent peppers lonely hearts club band yes I agree with you there but in terms of Hey Jude, She is leaving home and Yesterday they are pop. That is my point! One of the reasons why the Beatles were so popular was that they changed their looks and musical style often.
They had a few songs that were more... poplike? Poppy? Popish? I have no idea what the word is... than others, but they were always a rock band. Hell, even KISS did a disco song, and nobody can deny that KISS is a rock band.
I disagree for multiple reasons. I don't believe in "good" or "bad" music, just in music I do and don't like. There's also the fact that there are TONS of bands making music right now that is in the same style as the older artists yoy mentioned. They don't get as much radio play as the pop artists, but they're modern and they're current so they shouldn't be ignored. Round of applause for the perspective in this post alone. Yo, the Beatles are considered Classic Rock now, but back when they were around that was what Pop music sounded like. Lots of adults and older people in that day and age talked about how repetitive it was and how older music was so much better.
Haha, I must admit that as much as we seem to disagree and bicker I truly love your perspectives for if you both agree with me in all matters I would feel like I went wrong somewhere. I divide people into two categories Tedious and Charming, I don't bother labeling them as good and bad. Tedious and Charming, I find you both to be of the latter category .
Meh. I guess I'm an odd one out. I don't really like the modern pop artists you listed (at least not what I've heard of them), but at the same time I'm not the biggest fan of the "Classic Rock" bands/artists you listed either. Some of them I find just as atrociously annoying as modern pop. 80s pop and modern pop are both the two decades of pop that are obnoxiously overplayed and I've had enough of both of them. (although not to emphasize on them being over-played, as I found a lot to be very annoying the very first time I heard them)
