This is regarding how this season has started, and I know we've only had three episodes so far, but so far I'm not that impressed with how this season has turned out so far. :DFH:

It might have something to do with the "e/i" that used to appear in the corner of the episodes (which restricts them on what they're allowed to do, I think), thus making it more crazy in some situations.

I came to this realization after seeing episode 3, which if you saw in the episode 3 discussion, I didn't really like all that much.

Seeing how insane episode 3 was then thinking how crazy episode 2 was, I just really hope that starting with episode 4 and quite a few episodes after that are not like that and are seen returning to what most of season 1 was like: getting back to the more normal ("normal" being the operative term) slice-of-life episodes. Not so much crazy-filled episodes.

I'm sorry if this just sounds like I'm complaining more about the latest episode, but I just needed to be honest with you all about how I'm personally finding the pacing of this season so far.

I agree. I liked the episodes so far...but I would like to see a return to a less hectic plot line.

I see this latest episode as Twilight's 'Party of One' style breakdown episode. I'm sure it will get back to less crazy plots. Or maybe they are trying to cater too much to the kinds of episodes they know bronies like.

Either way, I have really enjoyed season 2 so far. I'm am kind of terrified about how they will handle Luna though.

I wonder if the expectations for Luna from everypony will be the complete opposite in episode 4.

    Epic :Trollestia: moment.

I've really enjoyed season 2 so far, but I can see where your coming from. I agree that it would be nice to see them tone things down after Luna's episode, because I wouldn't be surprised if that one is a bit crazy in its own way too. Episode 6 sounds pretty tame from the title, and the synopsis that I've seen, so maybe we'll get back to some more wholesome themed episodes sooner than later.

I like season 2 so far. I can't wait for the Luna episode. Season 2 needs more Trixie.

Season 1 is still better at this point in time to me.

I don't think you're at any point to compare season 2 3 episodes in to the 20 some episode season 1 that's run it's full course.

That'd be like judging season 1 based off the pilot episodes and like say Party of One.

I judging it based off the 3 episodes I saw of season 1. 3 episodes in season one I loved it. Season 2 has still been good so far. I just didn't like discord as much as Nightmare Moon.

    Heck if I know anymore
For me this season has been a real blast, I think its a little unfair to say this season is bad or not with only 1 episode so far.
Yes I am counting "The return of Harmony" as a part of season 1 as from what I understand it was actually a part of season 1 but due to no one knowing how far this series would go it was held off to be the opener for season 2 so it became a part of season 2.
Hey it was produced during season 1 so it counts in my mind.
Season 2 only has 1 episode so far in terms of production lines.

It's kind of hard to say whether I prefer the season 1 or season 2 pilot. Because when I first saw the season 1 pilot I was still transitioning into accepting my bronydom. Season 2 I was just madly in love with seeing new episodes, without any reservations that I was watching a show called My Little Pony.

I think I liked discord better then nightmare moon. the whole seeing the character become their opposite elements was such a cool plot.

However meeting the characters for the first time in Season 1 was really well done too. Even though it look at least 14 episodes for me to stop despising some of them. Now I love every character for their own reasons.

I'd say that it is way to soon to judge season 2 based on what we've seen yet.

I don't even consider the Discord two-parter as part of season 2 as it feels more like a season 1 finale (complete with season 1 intro... think about it), so as far as I'm concerned we've only really seen a single episode of season 2. While I wasn't quite happy with it myself, I'm not losing hope just yet.

Yes, yes and for that last bit, yes!

I also hope they return to a less hectic plot starting with the coming episode, yet I'm still a little worried about the future of the show.

Because I read somewhere that Jayson Thiessen said "the characters are pushed to the brink of their destruction on more than one occasion."

What I'm hoping for is that that dosen't necessarily mean have them go Twilight-in-Lesson-Zero crazy all the time.
Because, to be honest, that would get old and repetitive after a bit.

Last night, actually, me, my brother and one of his friends were discussing this and my brothers friend said someyhing along the lines of "they also can't really have too many of these episodes or they run the risk of not being able to get past the TV censors."

Again, this was said last night, so I might just be paraphrasing there.

well, as people said, you can't judge whole season based on 3 episodes.
personally, I liked season 2 and all 3 episodes are high top on my all time favorite episode list (with Lesson Zero taking 1st place), but I see your point.
I'm sure there will be more calm episodes like on season 1, but personally, I liked how they spiced up things. Now, (even tough it was never problem for me to call myself a brony) it's even easier when someone says: "dude, that's show for little girls", now I can just say: "yeah?, watch Lesson Zero and say that again".
sure it'll be nice to have more calm heartwarming episodes like Cutie Mark Crusader Chronicles, but I like that some episodes will be spiced a bit.

I... Know what you mean. The brick-to-the-face characterization that's been shown lately is a bit overpowering, yes. I hope that it doesn't stick too hard - I would hate to see such awesome personalities ending up Flanderized.

That said, the season really hasn't been bad so far.

I've watch episode 1 and 2 about 3 times. But 3 I have watched 7 times, that episode is just so enjoyable.

I wonder if we will cause this show, to move up to a PG rating.

I wouldn't be opposed to that, but haters will probably have a field day with that.

I agree that they should tone down the plot, but the plot is one of the main reasons i watch the show, (except for fluttershy) so i guess they should tone it down some, but at least make some episodes for fun.

I'm elated to hear that someone else feels the same way about the tone of the second season! It's totally changed in style. The comedy can be funny at times and it isn't exactly poorly-written (I am very picky about my comedy), but I also miss the writing style of the first season where things were much more slice-of-life and had a more serious tone.

It's just a guess, but I'd be willing to bet that the fact that parts of the creative team changed had something to do with this.
