Of Mares & Magic Spark (Epilogue: To Be An Alicorn) I apparently scared some readers on mine with one of the chapters before I got around to editing and posting the next one.
Cupcakes didn't make me feel bad at all, since it felt so disconnected from reality to me, but this didn't feel that way at all. I found it cruel, unforgiving, and heartbreaking all at the same time.
I felt the opposite after reading it. I don't know why, I hated cupcakes. I did like the original ending to Rainbow Factory. Even though I love Dash and Scootaloo. Maybe I'm weird.
well.... after i read the fan fic, it was pretty grimdark my description: Grimdark = a story very grimdark
Grimdark is supposed to be darker than 'Dark', so to speak. I honestly find the tag "Dark" to be more intense. If you need some cheering up, The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle is a lovely, looney shipping fic. The romance seems second to the comedy, though. It's incredibly clever and amusing and I recommend it for anyone that needs something lighthearted (fluffy?) to read.
I like grimdark. Well written grimdark at least. Try reading cupcakes with an objective point of view (that of an English teacher); this is what we call a "learn to english language as well as anatomy." Rainbow Factory? I personally found it a little plain. A good read in the genre? Fillystata. It does involve shipping, but that is a side concept; a deviation away from the major plot line. The story it self is pretty grim and very dark.
I shall read this at once. Rainbow factory could have been better, but it was still good for being based off a song.
I'm afraid of writing 'too complicated' and such. I don't think the fandom is illiterate or has a weak grasp on English, but I find myself looking up words (I enjoy learning the language, btw) occasionally, and that's a great self-teaching perk to reading others' fanfiction. However, I cannot seem to overcome the fear of writing prose too strong, detailed, or too much. On another note, I'm trying not to deviate into violence much in my writing. Aside from Cupcakes, what is the next fic down, in terms of violence, that any of you have read?
