So Recently, my MLP presentation video got trolled by 4chan. [video=youtube;jQysdRTDIYE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQysdRTDIYE[/video] As you would expect most of the 1260 comments were garbage. 40% were just calling me autistic, 40% were just mocking me misspelling a word in my video description and 9% were just pointing and laughing at me. that last 1% consists of some more intelligent people actually making reasonable arguments against the show and it's only these people I bothered to have a dialogue with. Here's one that made me stop and think for a bit. @setzertrancer I have a 10 year old sister who I babysit a fair lot. Because of that I've seen almost the first full season of MLP. It has a certain nostalgic flair and is better written than most kids shows, but at the end of the day it doesn't have any real substance to it. The morals of the episodes are trite, the plots are predictable, the jokes are juvenile. Latching onto this pony fad and trying to be ironic doesn't make you deep or edgyl, it makes you a loser with no identity of his own. This is a comment from someone defending me and the show @OctavioRedding Because people can't genuinely like MLP:FiM, right? Anybody that says they like MLP:FiM MUST be doing so to be edgy or cool, or they're just pretending to do so for the sake of irony or some silly fad, right? Say what you will... At least it's better than trash like Johnny Test, Planet Sheen, Fanboy and Chumchum, post-movie Spongebob, and half the other cartoons out there that are filled to the brim with unlikeable characters, gross-out humor, fart jokes and lame *squee!* like that. Then here is my response. @OctavioRedding I genuinely enjoy this, show. I admit that most of my over the top obsession with it comes more from the community and friends I have made since watching it. I'm talking real life friend other bronies that live in my city. As well as creative motivation it has given me to work on my hobbies. Not even Family Guy makes me laugh as much. I recommend you check out the latest episode 3 of season 2. It is my favourite because, it is the first episode made after the brony thing. So the show has been becoming even more adult and the comedy written for it, is getting more clever. Yet is is very admirable how they manage to do all this without moving up from a G rating. Oh yeah that's another point it is G rated, if I really was meant for little children it would be C rating. I think people expect this show to be as childish as play school. The audience was bored because of your presentation and not because of the theme of the presentation. What you really should have done differently is comment on the video and interact with the audience while showing it and not just blatantly stare at the video yourself. You should also talk more freely, act less nervous, interact more with the audience using different gestures and such. Not to mention that you presented it all in a way too subjective and sort of defensive manner. @iLiekUndead thanks like I have said to many people. If I could go back in time I would have done this presentation differently, but I still would have done it. So yeah I just thought I would share that, I had to get something out of reading over a thousand stupid comments.
Who cares what the comments say. So 4chan got a silly little raid together. No big deal 98% of the comments are useless garbage.
y u no let me be awesome :c For being one of the most infamous places on the internet for anyone who actually knows the internet, 4Chan seems to spawn quite a bit of immaturity and unoriginality- while there are some genuinely intelligent people there, a lot is simply scum who thinks they can win because they have more people than you. They even raided a freaking children's website's forum's subforum's discreet chatroom. What's with that? Anyway, it would be nice if they could pay attention to what other people were saying and not leave 50,000,000 comments saying the exact same thing, expecting more than one of them to add anything interesting to the situation. Fancy mathematics are for nerds, right? I find it kind of strange for them to flock to your video, though. Still haven't figured it out- there are much more popular videos that show a lot more (excuse me if this is comes off as offensive) obsession over MLP. I guess maybe they thought you looked like an easier target, being a less popular video? It does make you wonder how they even find this stuff, if they think it's so stupid. Eh, I guess I ranted enough.
When 4chan does these little stupid raids, the only thing they do is make a thread, post on the video, then run away back to the thread to hide. They go after anything that is an easy target or would have a hard time defending it's self (no offence Setzer).
Intelligence is not maturity. You can be a genius, yet still be immature and hard to respect, just as you can be as thick as a plank, yet be a mature and sensible human being. Most people on 4chan are smart, even /b/, but most are also cripplingly immature. Anyway, I wouldn't exactly call the first commenter a hater. He does after all concede it is better written than the majority of shows of it's kind, which is the complete opposite of hating. Granted, he does drop a passive aggressive statement at the end, but his points all seem reasonable, even though I do disagree with them. As for the second guy, iLiekUndead I assume, he gives some sound advice, something of a rarity on YouTube. Other than that, I'm not sure what there is to say, two reasonable comments, not much to be said.
I like the show simply because....I like it. It's pure escapism for me. For 22 minutes per episode I'm well entertained and have escaped from the daily realities of real life. The characters, situations, writing, and humor all are appealing to me and I don't see any reason why I would have to justify my amusement to someone else, including and especially a bunch of internet trolls who would end up homeless if their mothers got angry and ordered them to move out of the basement and get a job now that they're past the tender young age of 32. "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." I think this quote was inspired by 4chan. Most 4chan trolls would burst into flame if they ventured outside the confines of their mom's house between sunrise and sundown and actually let some SUNLIGHT fall on them.
Well, I'm happy this silly raid got dealt with properly. No one got pulled down by the trolls, and we're all good. And let's not get too far in speculating exactly HOW pathetic these guys are, for that in a way is also feeding the trolls. Talking about how awesome ponies are instead is waaaaay better spent time.

Truthful statement is full of truth. The interesting thing about 4chan hating on Setz is that Faust says she lurks 4chan occaisionally. What if she saw it all?
Ooooo that thought of Faust herself seeing my video, is, wow I would be honored. I ask one of the more reasonable to link me the 4chan thread about this but he never did.
The conversation continues he gets angry and then suddenly, I think admits he is a brony and gets nice at the end. The problem is that you pony*squee!*s can't just enjoy the show. You need to make a *squee!*HUGE deal out of it and *squee!* things up with ponies everywhere you go. You terrorized a poor, helpless class with Ponies because you need attention. Every corner of the internet has been invaded by this *squee!*gotry, MLP easily has the most annoying and obnoxious fandom this side of Sonic, and at least the Sonic fandom stay in their dungeons away from sunlight. So what if we are obnoxious. I know I could have made this presentation shorter and wasted less of my classmate time. (despite what you all think they didn't mind and some even watched the show and enjoyed it). My only regret is the presentation should have been more concise. I don't try to force anyone to watch the show any, I have realised that people did find that annoying. But I will still be a fan and make videos for my increasing brony audience on this channel. The reason I did this in front of my class was so I could have a chance to defend myself, before they jump to conclusions. Which from most of these comments, even though most are trolls for the sake of trolling from /b/. I don't see what your problem is I didn't force you to watch this video you did it of your own free will and there is a sonic fandom? I didn't even notice cause I don't go out looking for Sonic videos to get offended by and take way too personally. There's that pesky persecution complex again You've made one of the best additions to rage threads in history. I tip my hat to you. And the best episode of MLP is Party of One. That's just science. uh... thanks. Not sure what to think you mean by that and Party of One is one of my favourites too, But I Think 'A Dog and Pony Show' is best. I don't mind talking to people who disagree with me as long as they can have a dialogue, most of these commenters seem retarded. This conversation has been fun.
