No one has done this yet? Yay. I get to make my very first thread about a new episode then. I've always wanted to do this anyway. Here's the summary: "With the Grand Galloping Gala about to be held, Discord learns that Fluttershy has decided to take a new friend to the soiree instead of him, and then he begins to overexaggerate how much it does not bother him to the point of being suspicious." The only bad thing, for me at least, is that it involves one of my least liked characters. Discord. I still can't see him as "redeemed." Which is why I've never really liked any episodes involving him. Will that change? Well... it depends... Because... you see... this may very well be, and pretty much is, the episode involving... Spoiler: Episode Spoilers I guess? THE SMOOZE I was afraid for my life when I first heard of this. After reading that Equestria Daily post on the history of it... I'm even more afraid for my life. You know what? I'm just afraid in general. But maybe this will make me like this episode? Maybe? We shall see. Feel free to discuss the episode here once it airs. As always, I'll probably be posting my thoughts on it sometime Sunday. *is still afraid for my life* :ahh:
I feel really terrible for Discord and his jealousy. And yes, Fluttershy forgot him.She owns him an apology too. Edit:I don't like this episode.
I actually really liked this episode. It introduced an interesting new character. I'm not entirely sure whether or not I liked Tree Hugger, but she was interesting. Not only did it provide an insight into Discord's personal life, it also showed just how astonishingly powerful he is. He tore apart reality, simply because he was jealous of Fluttershy's new friend. Applejack cried... on the outside. It showed that Princess Celestia is, in fact, a mischievous prankster. She invited the Lord of Chaos to a fancy party, just to make things more lively. This is a side of her that I'd like to see more of. Maud has a mean streak. I did not see that coming, but I like it. Alternate manestyles and fancy dresses. The artists will be busy with this for months. Continuity. The Gala is still a big deal, but only to the ponies who've never been there. The Mane Six seem less than enthused about the whole thing after the Gala from the year before.
I found it pretty good. Discord dropped the spaghetti a little more than I felt he should when it came to Fluttershy inviting another pony. But it was a fairly good episode over all, even if I did feel it came off as a little reference heavy, but I guess as a god of chaos Discord focused episodes are always going to be lemaymay heavy. Tree huger was a nice one off pony, but I don't think there is anything unique enough to her to carry her past that one appearance, and once her novelty wears off she may find her self more outdated than communes in the south american jungle. The only issues outside Discord going a little to cringey was how reference laden it was, as I felt it easily would have gone overboard within one or two more. But over all pretty good episode, with Maud pwning discord.
Tree huger ruined the episode for me. Everything else was good and if Tree huger wasn't in it then this episode would be the best of season five so far.
This episode wasn't that bad. It was pretty awesome to see Maud again at some point. I wasn't too sure about liking Tree Hugger or not. Oh, it was really amazing to see the smooze. Overall, it was pretty decent. I really didn't think Fluttershy forgot about Discord, she just wanted to spend some time with Tree Hugger.
That and the fact that she was fairly certain that Discord had already been invited. Which he had. Really, this was all Post Haste's fault.
Something about Tree Hugger and the way people like that act just seems so fake to me. It irks me. But, I liked the episode. Maud heckling ponies needs to be a thing. That was the best thing in the episode. I like that Rarity had a back up dress ready. After the first was ruined and taken away (rather abruptly mind you) the next time we saw her, she was in another dress. Always be prepared!
So apparently LSD is canon now...? JK, But yeah, Tree Hugger seemed nice but was a little more spaced out than I would have liked. She does have a cool design though. I had a feeling Discord would go to extremes because of his jealousy but I think it's nice to see he truly does care about what Flut thinks of him... even if his reaction was inappropriate, he's still learning. Now onward to the little things! AJ indeed DOES cry on the outside. We FINALLY get to see where D has been living. His comedy routine, lame as it was, was littered with references that damn near made me lose it!! He had the Eddie Murphy jacket from Delirious, did the Rodney Dangerfield "no respect" face, and finished it off with a little Gallagher!!! And Maud made a funny... or two. MAUD IS BEST BOAT!!!!!!!!! Overall, a solid 9.5/10 for this episode!! Well done, writers!!! Spoiler: Oh, and just one more little thing...
I'm actually in the middle of watching the episode, but OMG WHAT IS THIS Spoiler: I'm in a box So far this episode seems pretty "Solid".
I guess it's moment of truth time huh? Oh boy... just... don't be surprised alright? Wow. I'm... not really sure what I can say here. As I have stated many times already, I am not a fan of Discord and I really can't see him as "redeemed." I liked seeing Maud though. That made this episode refreshing for me I guess. I really don't know what to think about The Smooze. It really wasn't clear one way or the other if he's good or not. He only seemed to be focused on eating. However, I did kind of feel bad for him when Discord constantly abandoned him because of his jealousy of Fluttershy having another friend. It might have been better if I hadn't read that "History" of him on Equestria Daily, because after I read that, I was under the assumption that he would have a speaking role and I was disappointed when I heard no lines uttered from him. I mean, maybe he's not all that bad? The only reason he got slightly out of control was because Discord wasn't keeping an eye on him, abandoned him, and was too focused on his jealousy and overreaction in general. Discord really acted like a jerk in this one, it was good to see Fluttershy confront him on it. I don't know. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this episode. I'm really not. It was definitely... interesting. But that's really all I can say about it. I just don't think this episode "clicked" with me. Was it because I'm not a fan of Discord? Possibly. I wish I knew myself. Sorry? :ahh: *cowers in the corner in fear of angry mobs*
I really wanted to enjoy this episode, but my computer ruined it for me. It's not the episode's fault at all, my computer is slowing down tremendously, and it made this episode near un-watchable for me. I had to stop the episode at around a third finished in my first viewing because it was freezing way too much to be enjoyable. A day later, I tried watching the episode again, and it was having the same problems. By the time the episode was running properly, the episode was over half over, and the episode lost it's impact on me. It seemed like an episode I would have really liked if my computer ran it properly, but even watching it for a second time didn't change my opinion, since I already knew everything that was going to happen in the episode. Aside from that; Best face EVER
