Let's start with the obligatory chiding for the early post. There's a sort of tradition that after an episode airs, we have a sort of a contest to see who can post the episode discussion thread first. By posting the thread days or even weeks early, you're robbing us of that. Not cool, man. Now that that's out of the way, I'm going to say that I'm really looking forward to this episode... especially after hearing the voice acting. Doctor Whooves and Octavia both have British accents, and Derpy has a silly voice. It looks like the writers have been paying attention to the fans, after all. Also, Bumblebear. People have pointed out that it's a panda monster... with a ring tail. Panda. Ring. Panda ring. It's genius.
I LOVED what I saw from the teasers. It's BEST. EPISODE. EVER. for me. At least for now. Hopefully it'll stay that way when I watch the full episode. It'll be IMPOSSIBLE to avoid spoilers though...
I kinda feel like they've given away a lot of the fandom shout outs like Derpy talking and Octavia and Vinyl being roommates. Still, I'm sure this episode won't be any less awesome!!!
THEY'RE THROWING PANDAS AT US!!! And I love it. This episode is likely going to go down as one of the top five best.
HOLY HELL IN A HAND-BASKET!!!! It IS pronounced Lie-ra... I stand corrected... please don't judge me! Now that THAT's out of the way, WAS THAT NOT AWESOME!? I think about 1/3 of the episode was about Derpy!!! Bon Bon is a secret agent living under an alias!!! The Lebowski crew!!! Shining Armor's inability to contain his liquid pride!!! Tia and Luna arguing about a gift!!! Allons-y (I've never even watched Doctor Who and I got a kick out of that)!!! Changeling at the wedding!!! I think I have a new favorite episode!!!!!! Sorry, Dashie! Still love Read it and Weep! EASIEST 10/10 I've ever given!!!
They did the thing! And the other thing! Muffins and Doctor Who and fanon confirmed and Changelings and Gummy's epic internal monologue and Wubcarts and Derpy talked and Luna and Celestia and Cadence and Bon Bon and Lyra and Octavia and Vinyl and HOLY CRAP THIS EPISODE WAS AMAZING! I will forever cherish each and every panda that was thrown at the fandom today. This episode gets ALL OF THE NUMBERS/10.
Overall, I really enjoyed the episode. It's cool to see the creators acknowledge the fans in such a way, and I feel such a focus on background ponies was an excellent idea. Lyra and Bon Bon interacting was pretty cute, if a bit goofy. Who'd have thought Lyra was the straight one? Vinyl and Octavia were awesome (want a wubcart IRL now). Time Turner is the Doctor, man! A lot of parts made me laugh, like Gummy's monologue, and Luna and Celestia bickering. Overall, it was a fantastic episode, and I found myself rewatching it a couple times today. 10/10. Will watch again. Looks like people wearing horse masks.
Good lord, that was incredibly painful to watch. I mean, the Doctor Who references were funny... But they went waaaaayyyy too far. As they did with everything else.
OH MY GOSH! THAT EPISODE WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Derpy was talking again, the changeling, the two sisters fighting over a gift, BonBon being now known as an secret agent, the panda-bug monster, Doctor Whooves using a Doctor Who reference, Gummy's monologue, the wubcart, even Steven Magnet was it too!!!!! This episode was just........ FANTASTIC!!!! I'd give it a 9000/10 !
It was ok; the sketches by themselves were all pretty good, but I'm not really sure how well they tied together. I Kinda wish they'd just included some of these bits into other episodes, spread it out a bit.
