Whoa! That was one hell of a ride!!! Normally, I would feel like the pacing for this episode was rushed but, for the sake of the subject matter, it seemed to make sense. Luna's nerves were so torn up that her own guilt and fear were what was ultimately causing the very thing she was trying to stop. As someone who deals with anxiety, I know all too well how fast a panic attack can hit you when you spend your time trying not to have one. This, to me, is a very relatable theme in the episode. Was also nice to see Luna finally realize that she is NOT who she was in the first episode and finally come to peace with herself. Now onward to the fun stuff!! Humongoid Derpy, Alicorn Big Mac with a Sailor Moon style transformation and music, LyraBon stuck together!!! Also really liked Dashie and AJ becoming Power Ponies again!!! And of course, THE RETURN OF FLUTTERBAT!!! With that said, I'll give it a solid 10/10!!!
Dammit! You win this time! So... Power Ponies, Princess Big Mac, Rainbow Power vs. Nightmare Moon, Flutterbat, Sir Spike riding Giganderp, and LyraBon confirmed. Also, Fluttershy has... issues. I give this episode /10, as its weirdness transcends human numbers.
Did you two know that you have the same birthday, the same writing style, and the same interests? It's almost like you're the same person.
I could see why you think that but we just have a lot in common with each we're actually two separate people.
It was alright. Loads and loads of fanservice with a conflict that never felt meaningful. Seriously, if they could do anything in their dreams, how are they even threatened at all? What's the point of saving them? And the revelation coming from the fact Luna just made a bad guess as to why the thing was getting stronger... was kind of lame. I do love the stellar character development for Luna in this episode, but it's just too bad it had to be padded with all that fanservice.
Most fans like fanservice. Giving people what they want is just good business. As for why the Tantibus was a threat, Luna said it herself. Once it gained enough power, it could escape into the real world.
MY GOD. THIS EPISODE. I don't where to start. Seriously. EVERYTHING. Just... EVERYTHING. It wasn't even because it was a Luna episode either. It didn't hurt though. Action-y!! The dream sequences were pretty funny at times. Especially when Rainbow Dash's fight with the Changelings got turned into... MY GOD. I'D BE TERRIFIED OF THAT TOO. MAKE IT STOP!! GIANT DERPY. Princess Big Mac. I lost it when I saw that. Spike goes knight!! POWER PONIES (I'm a superhero nut ) Flutterbat. That got me too. That ending too. THE FEELS. Just... THIS. EPISODE. GREAT way to end it before the annoying hiatus. I'll give it that.
I loved this episode!! It was great to find how Luna was progressing in her own personal struggles. The visual gags in this were brilliant. Additionally, I thought they did a really nice job with artistic design. The dress monsters could have easily looked stupid but actually looked really cool and well.. monstrous in an almost xenomorph/edritch-horror kind of way. The tantibus imagery was visually impressive (did anyone else think of Princess Mononoke in the final scene with it), seeing Rainbow strait out beat up on changelings was fantastic to look at (and made me think of the Once Upon a Time in Canterlot fan animation), Filthy Rich taking action and fighting with his money was a treat to see, ... and of course I never expected princess Big Mac to make an appearance (just to name a few things). I thought the conflict of the story was interesting, and once again an unexpected lesson for them to bring up. I also really love how in this season they seem to have reached the point where they are saying: okay the mane 6 accomplished something big. At this point for them to continue growing they really must start to teach others to be able to follow the lessons they have learned, and even to get others to spread those lessons themselves. (Also, I miss you guys. Things have been.. busy.)
This may not mean much (at least compared to other award ceremonies), but this episode recently won a Leo Award for Best Sound.
