Community Post #138Oh! Why the hell not? All In A Days Work - An Everypony Fanfic - Rambled Incoherently by Tyro The Fox The convention hall hummed with a relaxed atmosphere as the day dawdled onwards. Everypony was settling into the afternoon. The bar was open. 'The General Chat' caters to all and to all it offered a seat along with somewhere near an air-conditioner. Quiet chatter bubbles over the surface as S.P.I.K.E, the robotic baby dragon assistant Everypony keeps, polishes a glass absent-mindedly. Although, the eyes on the purple, metal dragon don't move so, it always looks with a thousand yard stare. Outside, the stalls and tables of various topics spread out in all directions. Some contain pictures, some contain high heels, some contain Legend of Zelda action figures and a camera. Each fills the space that various tables don't, filled with ponies of all colours chatting and hanging around. One of the loudest appeared to be about LGBT character in video games. The Library houses a half-asleep Quill Inkwell, sitting around the piles of Fan Fictions submitted that he's expected to check. Well, if he wasn't reading the same sentence thirteen times over before moving onto the next one, he'd be well on his way to finishing. The all-nighter to catch up as not paid off like it ought to. Next to the Library, is the Radio Studio. This has had many a famous pony come through here to chat or mess around. It's seen jokes, proposals of love, 24 hour streams and let's plays galore. Today, it's seen a coat of paint as a dirty scarlet fox emerges from it, hanging a sign on the front door that read 'Work In Progress' that was clenched in his teeth. He slinks across to his desk, sitting behind the glossy finish of the likely cheep wood The Help Desk was made from. There's much rummaging around, mixed with banging and knocks until Tyro pulls a toolbox out from underneath and plonks it down loudly. Immediately, he flips it open to find a screwdriver. Beside the desk, laying on the floor like a ragdoll, a dark brown pony lay. The stout pony appeared asleep, it's short, mahogany mane turning up in a small quiff. It wore headphones around the neck but they didn't seem to plug into anything. Tyro descends on this stallion with an alarming tenacity, stabbing the tool into the pony's side. Only for a hatch to pop open. "Riiiight..." Tyro mumbles as his paws go to work, fiddling around inside the pony. Occasional fizzes or clicks cause little jerks in the pony's limbs. "So, how long till Autobrony is up and running?" Asks the approaching Unicorn. Eight Star hovers a cup of coffee and a copy of The Community Post in front of him. His eyes scan the article while he stands over the android and it's mechanic. "Well, I'm upgrading the core, then I'm installing the programming, then I got to show him the ropes, test that he's working OK and that he can withstand 10.5 Tera-Wubs." Tyro said, looking up from his work. There was a fizz of some kind, suddenly Tyro pulls out his paw, shaking it as if the pain was like water drops. "Tera-wubs?" Eight asks. "You know...Dubstep. The wub-wubs and the whacka-wahs and such? Got to be able to handle himself if he needs to crank things up!" Eight peeks up from The Post and smirks: "I can tell your not much of a fan." "Of Dubstep? How?" "You just described it like you were 90." Eight said, chuckling quietly. "Anyway, Elunna and Soul Ember need you in The Theatre. Something wrong with it. Pretty urgent." With a huff, Tyro gets up, stepping past Eight Star and making his way over to the Roleplay Theater. Ordinarily, a gateway to another world. Somewhat literally. Practically a holodeck full of limitless creation and wonder. A pony could fly with Rainbow Dash or fight through the darkest depths of the Everfree Forest or anything the imagination could conjure up. A party, a quiet stroll, a desperate adventure. Today, it was empty. Worryingly empty. There's a space for Roleplayers to get changed into costumes and such or apply make-up and this lead to both the Roleplay Area and the Control Room. From in there, the adventures could be monitored. If anything went wrong or the player's needed a break, everything could be halted and resumed later. Ordinarily, there'd be Legion or Eluuna at the controls. Instead, there was huge claw marks in the carpet. The upholstery on the swivelling seats in front of the control panels was torn to pieces, padding everywhere. The fridge in the corner was dented heavily. Around the water cooler beside that was a soaking puddle from where something had slashed the bottle open, letting the water drool out. Tyro leans down and sniffs. Ok, he's no bloodhound, but his nose was likely better than anypony else's here. Except maaaybe that Stuffy McPatch. Although, surely she'd just stitch a better nose on, right? The slashes in the carpet met at the wall. They then slice through the wallpaper, cutting up towards the ventilation duct that fed air-conditioning into the room. The worst damage seemed to be around that, the most obvious being the warped cover. The grated panel was bent outwards, hanging by only a screw to the wall. Whatever did this, butted they're way in with a great deal of strength. Tyro pulls one of the chairs over to the vent and perches on it. He leans on the wall and peers inside the vent, hoping to see something. There! A light. A tiny, red light. A few more blinked on. That was peculiar. There shouldn't be anything down there. Within an instant, the lights where getting closer. Echoed by a strange, electronic static, a claw zips out to try and grab the fox watching at the entrance. Tyro attempts to dodge it by jumping off the chair but the claw snags him nimbly. He's caught in midair then reeled in at an alarmingly swift speed. Try as he might, Tyro's paws do nothing on the shiny surface of the air duct. His cry echos out but ultimately vanishes along with the fox's visibily, vanishing into the dark of the ducts; far, far out of sight. - To Be Continued? Maybe. If you want me too. - Site News So, I did a little more fiddling. - Pictures in Signatures now will have a set height of 400 px. This is to help make the forums look less cluttered with oversized Signatures. So, keep it in mind when you make your own. - I played around with the Trophy system. I've altered a few and added a few new ones. Feel free to take a look. They're just little thumbs up we can hand out. Always neat. Now, before I go, I thought I'd ask you guys something: Twitch or Livestream? I know we've talked about this before but we never really got anywhere on the issue. Afterall, Livestream appears to be becoming somewhat old and Twitch might be a little bit easier to stream from. Of course, we'll have to do more research and such but a general feel from you guys would be great. So, Twitch or Livestream? Which would you prefer to see? Anyway, that's all for this week. Have a good one. And maybe, you could write something better than me.
Ah, make a lot of sense now. TRP and a few others were talking about the sudden change in size of their sig pics. I guess they didn't expect it, but hey. The images being smaller does help. Not to mention load times for some maybe go a bit faster. But seriously, lol~ FanFic's for all~ And maybe some pie to eat with a side of coffee~ That sounds good right now... Now I've made myself hungry~
Okay, I get the whole size limit on the signatures thing, but why did mine get shrunk? The regular size is only 100p in height. I think a few others under 400p have shrunk, too.
Yeah, I'd love to make the General Chat like a student bar or something. A Physical Everypony would be sweet. Honestly, I don't know! Perhaps it's gypsy magic or perhaps CSS is feeling vindictive. All right. Ta!
I think there's probably something else you should change, in the Episode Discussion section it only has Season 1 and Season 2 Archive. I was wondering if you could probably add in Season 3, 4, and 5 Archive. (Oh, maybe a Season 6 Archive as well since season 6 was confirmed. )
Whoa, slow down! Season six should be saved till it's started. However, adding seasons 3-5 would add more to discuss about. I agree there~
I've actually written a few fanfictions myself. One was an INSANE crossover involving MLP: FiM. I may or may not be planning an even MORE INSANE sequel to said fanfiction. But I'm waiting for a game that may never come... so... yeah...
Everypony Fanfic 2.0 please! That cracked me up XD I don't mind the sig size changes; there's an option to view them at original size, I think, and it does help reduce the gap between posts.
LEL Also, a few changes I'd like to see: Customizable profile pages Tapatalk support More site background themes More fonts
Okay, so no we can get trophy points by liking other people's posts? There's a quite big problem with this.I think I just saw at least 6 likes on this topic already.
And how is that a problem? It just encourages people to use the new like system, which many users are either ignoring or have simply forgotten about.
Like or don't like. I don't really mind. I suppose preferably like. It let's me know I'm doing a semi-decent job.
Ah, twitch, I think I'd prefer it better, mostly because it's mobile friendly, and I personally enjoy it. I also have to say, I liked your post, it was very creative this time!
For what it's worth, I think the Like system alone is intuitive, but that people are pretty restrained when using it. I think we should try it, although I'd remain conscious of the issues this forum had previously with the Reputation system. Personally, as long as the "trophy" points don't elevate members above each other in any measurable way, I think it's a good idea. They should be positive and fun without being akin to a member rating system.
