I think something like this would belong here? I'm unsure. Moderators are welcome to move it elsewhere of course. This feels like something VGAddict would post... well anyway... Anyway... I'm not sure how many of you guys are like me and visit multiple MLP: FiM forums, but, I do. 5 specifically. I also check Equestria Daily pretty much daily. What I've seen recently is... well... I've seen a lot of sentiment lately that due to the way the show is currently being treated by Discovery Family, the way-to-many hiatuses, and the fact that the ratings this season have been less than what they used to be... That it may not get past Season 6, making Season 6 the last. Keep in mind I'm just repeating what I've seen on other MLP: FiM boards and Equestria Daily comments. There's nothing to prove or disprove this. When you think about it though, I guess all shows do have to come to an end eventually. It might be better if Season 6 is the last season with the 2017 movie possibly acting as a "series finale." Besides, I don't want this show, which has some pretty AMAZING moments, to become drawn out like other shows like Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, etc. That's just me though I suppose. :s What do all of you guys think? Will Season 6 be the last MLP: FiM season?
Most likely not, in my opinion. This is such a successful show whith over 10 million fans worldwide, and is making Hasbro a bunch of money.I see no reasons to shut it down so early(6 years, which is....Well, normal for a normal cartoon series, but it's quite small for this fandom). Until we have an offical annoucment, there's not much we could say about this topic.
That really depends on whether or not the toys keep selling, and whether or not sponsors keep buying airtime. As long as the show is profitable, Hasbro will keep it around.
Yeah you guys are right. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. Personally, for me though, I haven't liked the way Discovery Family has been treating the show so I think it should go to another channel. If that will actually happen, and what channel it should go to, is not something we'll know until this is announced, if it is announced at all.
I don't think it will go to another channel. Hasbro still retains partial ownership of Discovery Family. My theory is that this hiatus has something to with a crossover between the main series and EqG. I'm thinking they planned something that will line up with the events of Friendship Games, and the movie needs to show first or it won't make sense.
Oh. I thought they didn't which is why it got changed from "The Hub" to "Discovery Family." If that's the case, then you're probably right. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to deal with the not-so-great treatment then...
On second thought, that makes more sense. I was going under the assumption that all the Season Five episodes were finished and ready to air, but that assumption doesn't make sense if the finale is still in the storyboard phase.
Hmm... I see... interesting. Very well. Of course... you know... I could care less about the Equestria Girls series. But, that's only me.
I doubt it, but I really hope it ends on a high note, rather than poor sales. Maybe there will be spin off series' later on, because there's only so much you can create for the current cast since they don't age.
What if it was an alternate universe like Equestria Girls, but not anthro and not in a school. Like, just a pony movie, but not considered canon. Anything that happens in the movie, stays there. Could open up a lot of scenerios that they can't try with regular 20 minute episodes.
Don't they? In the show's timeline, it's only been about a year and a half since Twilight arrived in Ponyville. The first three seasons took place over less than a year, and the Season Four opener ended with the Summer Sun Celebration, marking exactly one year since the return and defeat of Nightmare Moon. Since the Mane Six are already adults, they wouldn't show outward signs of aging in that short a time. As for the CMC, while any outward growth is hard to quantify because of the nature of animation, they've all certainly shown signs of maturing since their earliest episodes. They're still children, of course, so that maturity is sporadic at best, but it is there.
Equestria Girls is canon, though. It took place on a different world, separate from Equestria, but it's still canon to the main series in the fact that pony Twilight had those experiences in the human world and learned from them.
Jeez I hope Season 6 is not the last season. I doubt it though because apparently a My Little Movie has already been confirmed for a 2017 release date in theatres so I doubt they are going to end the franchise before then.
