BE WARNED. THIS IS SOMETHING I WILL TYPE FROM THE TOP OF MY HEAD. LET THE RANT, BEGIN: I was on Youtube, and, as I normally do I somehow end up viewing one of Kyrospawn's short snippets FiM episodes. I watch the clip, even though I have seen it all before. Then, as usual I check the comments, and I try to restrain myself from doing so. Why? No, not haters, just those who give reasons as to why we SHOULDN'T like the show. Ok, first of all, I know that everyone is entitled to watch what they want, do what they want, and say what they want to a certain level (being the Internet there are hardly any restrictions, however). Someone posted a comment saying along the lines of "The show is aimed at younger children, not adults. Being such an avid fan of the show immediately suggests to everyone that you have the mind of a child.". The answers are obvious, and I know you may be thinking as to why I'm posting a thread about this because I already know that the comment isn't true, as Lauren Faust herself said that her aim was to make MLP:FiM less offensive to one's intelligence, so that it would be more appealing for mothers and fathers to watch the show with their daughter or even, son. No, I'm not a massive fan of the show, I don't buy the t-shirts, bags or any merchandise. I just watch the show, have an account on this to discuss it, and make friends with all the lovely individuals that I know bronies are! It just pains me to see that some people don't see that, yes, the show has influenced a massive following where, and I admit it, there are some who annoy the hell out of people, bugging them to watch it, shoving in people's faces, but they don't see the people here, on this very site. I've only been here a few days, and you've been so welcoming and kind, and I'm not saying you should, but you choose to be, which gives me hope for humanity. No, not because of some "kids show" (yeah, that show started this), but because we have seen the morals that make us human, love and compassion for one and other, and I'm not lying when I say this, but I'm starting to think "bronies" are the closest thing to world peace. *sigh* I sound ridiculous... don't I? :l
I dont care. Having the innocent mind of a child is better than that of an adult. bronies = world peace. I like that.
I just ignore negative comments. Easy as that. _____ Speaking of Kyrospawn's videos. Rainbow Dash - "I liked it a lot" Look at the comments for that. EDIT: Video below.
No matter what you do, or what you like, there's going to be some one that disagrees, and there's going to be some one that's offensive about it. Or, to put it another way, Haters gonna' hate.
ooh come on. People who know me say I indeed have the mentality of a kid, and I guess its true, but that dosent stop me! just ignore them comments and live the life as how it is!!
T'was just a thought that was knocking on the door of submission. I mostly ignore it, but my mind tends to wander into it's darker corners of retaliation. Metaphors aside, I think too much. But from now on, I shall ignore it. "I am who I am" etc.
World Peace? Perhaps, though the poke wars on the Poke Thread are occasionally getting out of hand. However, there may be some merit to this. In fact more than a little. Bronies, beyond being people who like MLP, are people who were willing to actually give the show a try - see what the commotion was about - and not just pass it off as something that a bunch of individuals sit around and watch in their basements. (I'll leave out the even worse "definitions" of who we are). Therefore, right away, each and every single individual who is on this forum, shares a character trait with every other individual on the forum. So, perhaps one of the reasons we are the community we are, is because of that one value that each of us has binding us together on the psychological level. Just my thoughts on this whole idea of who we are.
Couldn't have put it better myself. It's not just watching MLP, the community symbolises the fact that we are not ignorant towards people and things that seem strange or do things that are out of the ordinary. Psychology plays a big part too, every one of us share the same linked opinion, but any other opinions are accepted and those who tell others about them are not isolated for what they say, or believe in. Yay!
I just don't understand one thing? why does anyone take youtube comments seriously? only worse source of information would be 4chan (no offense to 4chan people). ahywho, being child at heart? well I know I am, and I'm not ashamed of it. in fact there's child sitting in side of every one of us (adult people), just that lot of people hide it. I don't know about usa, but I know that here lot of adults watch cartoons, normally. Being child at heart doesn't mean that you're not intelligent, weak or anything, it's just that you are in touch with your inter child. Walt Disney himself said: "in every person, child or adult, there's child sitting inside", and that's very true. Also, yes, this whole brony thing has effect on community that gathers up nice people from all around, and show's messages effect people wanting to be better person (if they weren't before they've become bronies). yes, your words that bronies are closes thing to peace on earth, that's kind of brony spirit I like to see in people.
I just think most haters arguments are hillarious. Mostly because so few have watched the show, so they get most of it wrong. I have actually heard a guy criticize the show for not having villains. (hint, Nightmare Moon dumb-rocks, just a minute into the first episode, how can anyone miss that) Though most have arguments that are the equivalent of this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzLNc5kE03Q&feature=feedlik Yeah, I do tend to think of brony haters as Gilda
^ One thing I don't get. You speak of Bronies. You speak of "haters". You say nothing of the in between. The people whom don't fall to one side. Not everyone who dislikes the show is a hater. I personally know someone that thinks the show and fandom are "immature". That doesn't stop them from tolerating me and my endless stream of pony related gibberish. Just something I wanted to point out.
Well, with haters I just mean the people who actively spends time judging and insulting others for liking the show. Not just disliking it, I can respect people who dislike it. I was not more than a casual fan myself at first, what caused me to become somthing more is how awesome I think the brony community is. We may very well represent peace on earth, because most are really nice. And yeah, my own mentality is a strange mix of adult and child. I do not think there is anything wrong with that, just because you are an adult, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy light-hearted stuff like MLP. We don't have to watch adult material all the time just because we are adults
Gah, I knew I shouldn't have taken it seriously. *feels silly* It was just there in my head and I wanted to get your opinions on the matter. All I really need is just someone I know personally that understands me as a person and my views. No one does. My friends back stab me all the time about stuff. *sigh* Ah well, college will be a new start, and people tend to be more open-minded and understanding. Not like the ignorant individuals at my school. :l Damn, I need a hug.
I think everyone can learn from Pinkie Pie's example. Giggle at the haters, they can't hurt you cause laughter makes them disapear. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrPte1uijDw Feeling better now . Yes, I am just as sane as Pinkie is
