At the start of the film, Colonel Hans Landa killed the girl (Shosanna) family at their farm after discovering that they had been hiding underneath the floorboards. The girls family were Jewish dairy farmers, and had offered a glass from the man who was hiding them. Four years later, Shosanna is in Paris as the owner of a movie cinema who is forced to play a new propaganda film for the Third Reich where most of the major figures of the Nazi party are attending the opening, including Hitler and Goebbels. Landa meets up with Shosanna and the two talk to each other, with Landa pretending that he doesn't know him. When the waiter comes however, he orders a glass of milk. Once the scene is over, Shosanna breaks down and cries after Landa leaves the restaurant.
