But love and tolerance is already our motto.
Unless you're talking about the Utopia stuff.

I like to think of Everypony as this tiny island floating on the internet.
A paradise retreat for Bronies; away from "haters", just this little tiny chunk of peace.
Now that I think of it,
I'm just drawing more allusions to Utopia.
Which by no means is a poor way to describe the forum.
We are self sustaining and self sufficient; we don't need large community bases
like 4chan to drive our topics and discussions.
We're fairly isolated, and somewhat under the RADAR,
and as such, can expect general peace for our population.

Peace and small numbers are the two things that lead to stagnation. To lack of change. And no community can evolve without change.

What is live? Life is the embodiment of change, never for a moment the same. If we have a community that, for the most part, rarely ever changes, is it really alive? Or merely existing? Is this the direction we want to take this place that we call home?

we have a thousand members, most are on EPR, I guess. How many post actively now. I'm guessing maybe 60-70, I'm probably way off. What you say it true but we all keep changing here on the site. That is a form of growing.

We all change, and yet, the total change is very little. We are still who we are, and while some of us have changed cardinally, the community is still what it is. We still have the same customs, the same radio, and very little new blood that stuck around.

As for EPR, It's more dead than you think. Much more dead than the forum at least.

In any case, regardless of how much we may have changed, as a whole, we did not, and that, pardon the expression, must be changed.

Too long has the suggestions section has been long forgotten, neglected. I open it's door wide for all to let their voices be heard!

I'd suggest stuff, but I've got nothing to say. I like the site the way it is. I do agree the new comers that stay has dramatically fallen, but still some do stay. While the site may not change, it has changed me, which in turn may cause I change to the site. I just don't see myself capable of such a feat.

What you do not see is simply beyond the horizon. We all have the seed of change in us, we must but plant it where it will grow.

Know where, however, is an arduous task. It is what makes or breaks nations, no matter how large or small. And, after all, are we not a small nation on the surface of the Internet?

Then what do you suggest? We have the means it seems to accomplish this task, but where do we start.

We start within, looking for what we want from something. We look for what we wish to reap, and from there, what to sow.

Then, in our case, the means is simple. We let the suggestion free to the public, for all to see, and spread the word. Then, if the presentation was as good as the idea itself, then it may take root.

Of course, this may not always work, but do not dispair. Often, even failing at first will inspire success of the idea through others, or even through yourself at a later time.

One only fails when one gives up. If one has the tenacity to see something through, there was never a failure. Sadly, not too many know this, and tend to loose hope and faith, loose their fighting spirit so to speak, far too easily.

This fatalism is what I fight against.

This inability to get up is what holds us back.

One can not tread new ground without tripping, nor continue without standing up.

All of this is true, but many have fallen and will stand back up, only to remain stationary. In an attempt to avoid failure or only walking backwards where the light has been shone.

So is the real problem a lack of a forward push? The lack to want to achieve.

Or is the real problem inspiring others to take that first step forward?

One can not create energy. To make yourself move takes energy from something else. From your will, perhaps, or from the example of others, it matters not. The important thing is to keep the boulder rolling, for it is hard to stop. Waste no time getting up and keep on exploring, keep on moving, for the more you slow, the harder it will be to speed back up.

    ^ so very true, I agree 120%

Sometime boulders encounter hills. Which will burn off their speed and on level ground it is harder to get rolling again.

However, from the top of the hill, there is nowhere to go but downhill, which helps you speed up for whatever next bump you might encounter, no?

True, you gather a lot of speed going down, but then you hit a hill and slow down. You might overcome the hill, but with a reduced amount of speed. They to get going it is even harder.

Some things are means to themselves.

Is tolerance not an end as well as a means? Is love not something we all strive towards, and yet is something that often helps us from a gutter?

For that matter, does everything need an end, or is the journey to nowhere just as effective as a journey to a certain destination?

Of course, if you have a goal, it's that much easier to keep going, but in many cases, when one has no goal, all you have to do is take that next step, again and again.

That is what a person should be. Someone who keeps on going, never stopping. Even if never stopping means taking a rest or admiring the view as you sit and sip your tea/coffee, one should always strive for something better, for something grander.

After all, perfection is a simple matter of low standards.
