I hold open doors and call everyone miss/ mam or sir. Ill help out anyone that needs it. Im not bias toward anyone or anything. If you need just someone to talk to give me a shout.
being a boy scout, i always go by what we are taught. "do a good deed daily." when i say good deeds, i dont mean something absolutely helpful or major. biohazard is a good example. he said he just holds the door for people and properly treats them with respect. that really all you need. for example, i informed some students to move out of the way for a student in a wheel chair. i really expected some other positive feed back for this... doing something shouldn't be a chore or a competition, it shouldn't be something you overlook. good deeds are what i look up to and what makes me happy. that feeling inside that i either made someone a bit happier or made their day easier always brightens my day. i just wish others thought the same.
I basically live to help others, no matter if it's big or small. I helped a handicapped person through a building yesterday, opening doors and whatnot. Today, I helped a man find a suitable game for his grandson at Walmart, that was fun. Simple things like that make me feel good.
Oh! Okay! Well, in that case, I would post in this thread almost every day. I guess I just never considered it a "good deed," but just common courtesy. Like today, I held the elevator door open for a student that was running toward it so he wouldn't miss it, and by "held" I mean I held the "door open" button down. I mean, I normally do that kind of stuff all the time; hold doors open for people, pick up things that other people drop, let others go ahead of me (both on and off the road), treat everyone kindly, and other little things like that. I guess I just never considered it much of a good deed because, to me, that's just something that should come to people naturally. It comes to me naturally. I used to work in a supermarket for almost seven years helping out customers. Minus the asinine ones, I got a great thrill out of helping them. Just having a satisfied customer made me happier than getting my paycheck each week. So, I don't consider good deeds to be chores at all. I just didn't think anything I did was worthy of posting in this thread. Sorry about that.
exactly what i mean! the things that people really look past are the things that help the most. those small things you do like holding a door open for someone, or letting someone in front of you, or anything else can do a lot. think about it, maybe when you held that elevator open that person got to their location on time, where if you didn't they would be late. even something as simple as picking up a piece of paper can help out alot. thats mainly why i made this thread.
Sometimes, it's good to try and help the asinine ones. Or, that group of people including the surly ones, the snotty ones, the difficult to please ones, etc., etc. They may change their ways, but usually not. Still, for those few that do, it's worth it.
- I gave money to a friend in need. - Held the door for people at pretty much every opportunity. - Helping a friend at the moment quit smoking while he is ahead, not an easy task. I fear he's addicted. :c
Hmm, nah. While helping those kinds of people, doing a good deed is a chore. Most of the time, they do not change. I do not take kindly to asinine people. The way I am is simple. I show you respect by default. I show you respect if you show me respect. However, if you show me disrespect, I pay you back with disrespect. There are a few exceptions to the rule, but in general it applies. Although, I'd never do anything bad to them. I would never try to do something bad to someone intentionally, but I will not go out of my way to help them. Unless it's obligatory, as was the case I mentioned earlier.
i helped my dad, who has a badly injured back, carry Christmas supplies into the garage. i picked up a little girls toy for her.
November 4 - Donated an old Guitar Hero controller to Goodwill and gave away items in Team Fortress 2. I consider the TF2 part to be miniscule, Its just a game. But I suppose it does count. (And yes I realize this isn't a contest... Not sure why I'm saying that, Maybe its because I'm tired) Austin
I am now raising money for Prostate Cancer, as it is affecting my family. My uncle has the cancer and I want to do all I can to help.
