Well the problem is that if you make it unlisted, it doesn't spread by people just searching it on youtube
It'd still spread from people finding it on forums and relinking it elsewhere (not sure, do unlisted videos show up in playlists?), private is the only way to ensure no one you don't want to can see it.

I own two unlisted videos (Suprisingly, they are the merch videos.) and no they don't show up on a playlist, IIRC...

You do need the link in order to view it, but then again they can still embed the video. Just like in my merch thread, I embedded two unlisted videos of myself and they still show.

Best bet, is keep it on private and don't let anyone see it (or) leave it on public and disable comments/ratings and ignore any sort of trolling they may occur from a YouTube channel message or a PM or any other form of communication.

    Off-topic:

I looked at the video on Setzer's OP post, and I just saw DanSze's post. Well the YT username was obvious also...

    On-topic:

Seems like when I wanted to reply to DanSze's post, it said "Comment Pending Approval." So that's one good thing, as for the ratings... lets not mention that.

Don't get mad with internet trolls. Doing so shows they found your weakness and will take an advantage of that and use it against you. Just Ignore them.

There is a difference between trolling and hating. Trolls say things to instigate an angry reaction from people. Mass hating on a video is completely different. They're just being asses, insulting and harrassing someone.

EDIT: Goddammit, I didn't check for a second page.

    I agree with Dan.

Look here, Dan's spent half his life in that place. Deleting everything would mean a reaction. Disabling comments would mean a reaction. Blocking les trolls would mean a reaction, and that's exactly what they're looking for. They'll get bored of trolling you soneday.

@Lu Then I'd say they're both. From the comments I read, these people obviously have a decent literacy and intelligence rate, reminiscent of trolls, and they're trying to provoke a reaction. However, they're also hating by making those comments rather insensitive and pretty rude.

That would mean I was 1 year old.

Yes, I went on 4chan. I left relatively soon, but I fulfilled my purpose to learn the art of trolling from the masters. I rarely put it to use except to understand trolls, but it is a good skill to have for moments like this, when one needs to understand trolls in order to defend from them.

i'd delete the video, and reupload it later, that way you can still continue makin MV's and you dont have to dissapoint your subscribers. That vid is their focal point, if they cant send it around anymore the trolling should die out after a while (i think). I know some trolls will deem themselves victorious after you deleting he vid, but so what? not like they ACTUALLY achieved anything important.

And this, it's one of the comments (Setzer, if you don't want it on the forum, tell me, i just want to prove a point :s)

Aaaaand this guy calls himself a brony?

I honestly don't understand why they are paraspriting you, is it because of the video its self or is it because you are a Brony?

These aren't trolls, they're more or less an angry mob - in troll-ish terms, they mad

Setzer here's the thing, you pushed and wanted to get viral so bad and guess what, you got it.
Maybe no on the terms you were looking for but you've succeeded in getting the internet's attention and look where it's brought you, this anger will only get worse if you either:
    a) don't step up to them
    b) don't do something about the video

    (a) just isn't an option for you, you take things way too personally for that to work out.

I'm one to hold steadfast to principal and say face up, run at this head on but looking over this situation for your well being I suggest you let the hate cool down.

People come to the forums all the time with their personal problems, the problem is they don't want a solution, they want a pat on the back and people to tell them that everything's fine, everything's okay and that continuing on like they are will work out perfectly for them. It's just not the case, I know you want me to say what you want to hear but I can't, I'd be causing too much harm if I did.

Be careful. Be very careful. Never ever underestimate what trolls from 4chan (or worse, *chans where those banned by the mods or moot himself end up and which exist pretty much only for this purpose) are able and willing to do.

Do not forget that this is where what we now know as Anonymous came from. In fact, this is Anonymous. Only that their aim is not a good cause but havoc for the lulz.

Did you ever post your phone number anywhere online that Google can scan? Your real-life address? If there is any way to find out where you live including the use of Google, Facebook, people search engines or whois requests, they've won. In this case, you do not want to fight them. You troll them back online, and phone harassment is the best that can happen. /b/tards have gone to people's homes and beaten them up and/or set their houses ablaze, injuring their loved ones. It's pretty much impossible to win a war against /b/, unless you're both very lucky, a corporation and wealthy enough to fund extensive police investigations.

Can you afford to move somewhere else? Away from your hometowm altogether if necessary?

People at human resources departments who check on job appliers on Google and Facebook are less net savvy than our likes. They do not know that ED is a slander website. And even if they do, they'll ask themselves how you got there and hire someone who isn't on ED.

This. You can only hope for them to get bored and find a new victim.

Nope. I've seen trolls from /b/ on an attack spree register at a forum which requires an administrator to unlock each and every account by hand.

Quite frankly that's insulting to anyone who's ever used Anon to do something serious.

These are just random angry idiots frustrated that people on the internet like things they don't. People read into this way too much.

Ah, the smell of over-excitement on the internet.

No, you can not win a was against /b/, because it never fights. The people on it fight. And they are just people. No true troll would ever go as far as to lose their anonymity by doing something in real life. Anyone that does that has went from the anonymous world of the internet, where there is no law but what you make with your words and actions, to a world where the law is something concrete, not relative.

Sure, there were cases of people organizing an attack in real life through /b/, and trust me, most people there don't want that reputation stuck to them, but we do this anyways. We do what the show teaches us not to. We stereotype, we do not tolerate, we hate on those who we do not know.

As for investigations, anyone can report hate crime upon themselves, as long as there is proof. If it is repetative, or it gets as far as arson, and one can prove it (with recordings of phone calls and/or a burned down house), the police will have to investigate.

On the topic of forum attacks, there is any number of ways to deal with that. One can do a mass ban, one can password protect the forums (all of them) and use a contact-tree to spread the password, and one can even do a blanket IP ban for the IP ranges the account-spammers use. I own a small forum (game dev log more like, but a forum none the less) and we DID get attacked once. No biggie.

In either case, this is the internet. Why so serious?

Oh I very much doubt that has ever happened. The sort of folks who go stirring up trouble anonymously on the net are very rarely the sort who would ever try anything in real life ;) No doubt there'll be a few stories about it but the chances are that's just the anon types trying to add to their own legend...
As for the vid, if the aggro is causing you grief then by all means take it down, but you'd do just as well to ignore it. I've rarely seen a Youtube comment thread these days that hasn't deteriorated into trolling after a dozen posts...

I have to step in here.
I highly doubt that that's Anonymous themselves, because that's crossing with their general idea in the first place.
Yes, Anonymous was formed on 4chan, but Anonymous officially supports MLP:FiM because there's no copyright on it, and that's exactly what they are fighting against.
Lot of people think that they just do it for the lulz, but under that lulz cover, there's much more going on, and they have actual meaningful goal, and won't go randomly exposing themselves just to troll someone. they are too smart for that. Also, it's more likely that they'd troll someone doing something about Disney who they dislike (calling Disney copyright nazi), then bronies who support show that has copyright policy nailed in terms they want everyone to have.

Yes, I suspect that those trolls come from 4chan, but I doubt they are Anonymous members.

    This is interesting.

The guys on Setzer's video aren't trolls, as they're not posting hoping to get an angry reaction out of anyone.

Instead, they are the angry reaction.

    >They are the angry reaction.

    Setzer you troll, you.

    God, i hate trolls.

You know what? I don't really think you should worry TOO much, until the trolls actually start messing with you.
And even if they do start messing with you, just take the video down. Ignore them. If the best they can do is hack your email, then who cares?

Who hasn't had their email hacked at least once? Am i right? :trixieftw:
.... Am... am i right? :ahh: (Maybe it's just me....)

And also, why should you have to hide your love for MLP from your future employers and your friends and family? It's just an interest you have. How does that affect anything?

Yes, i had thought of that.
But seriously? If they judge how you're going to do a JOB just by the fact that you happen to like MLP, THEY have the problem.

If an employer uses this against you and your employment, they are likely to be fired for prejudice. Besides, it's incredibly stupid to avoid hiring someone because they like something 'girly'. The presentation itself, is wonderful, and demonstrates charisma among other skills important for employment.
