LIES! YOU'VE SEEN ME DO IT WITH MY OWN PAWS! SLANDEROUS MISCREANT! I USE ONLY THE FINEST CLEANING AGENTS! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!

Y'know, it is an interesting thing. The term has some pretty awful baggage attached because of some of the idiots. They're everywhere, they're in everything. Whatcha gonna do other than smack them with a rolled up newspaper when they get too uppity? I know people that call themselves Bronies but have acted like arses or been unsettling. The worst so far was a guy that told me I couldn't play a card because it was his waifu. I couldn't tell if he was joking.

You know other titles I've heard of people distancing themselves from to avoid idiots pushing a cause too far or generally acting unpleasant? Atheists and Feminists. Richard Dawkins has tried to push the label away to become Agnostic and I've heard many people try to distance themselves from the term 'Feminist' after the calls by some to become...unpleasant, shall we say?

They both the same thing? Gawd blimey, no! But it's an interesting parallel that's troubling. For every time there's a charity donation or a killer album or a beautiful work of art, there's someone obnoxious that get's recognised instead.

That's an interesting bit of rhetoric, Tyro. This thread could go places.
