'Sup guys and gals! I was just wonderin' how y'all got your usernames? Was it a reference to something or someone? A result of pure imagination? Or did you just close your eyes, type randomly and then clicked "done"? Merriweather was just a name that came to me while thinking of an appropriate name that could also be used in the future for an OC. So I made it my username and what you see in my avatar? Yeah, that's Merriweather. The name stuck. Let me know your story in the comments!
Used to learn latin, I thought Ignis (wich means flame) was a nice word . It doesn't have any spiritual meaning or anything .
My username's origins? Well... Two random words, and I forgot the space? Also the sky outside was the colour of concrete at the time. I wish I could change it though. Harp Sorcerer would be so much better. I wish you could change your display name. Hmm. I need to look into the phpBB database tables to see if it's at all possible. Actually, all you'd need to do is add a display name column. Defaults to username, changeable once a month.
Story time children! Once upon a time in my old school there was a certain...tradition! We had a vending machine that dispensed sweet treats at the request of just 50p! Fifty Pennies! Now, when someone went to the machine, the game began, you had to approach the machine silently, and from behind the unsuspecting victim, select item "D6", or...a Bounty Bar! Now, no-one in the school liked Bounty Bars! So I adopted Bounty as my name because nopony likes me

DWynter - stands for Dante Wynter, my "internet" name. Not the name I was born with, but if I could change it legally, I would. Maybe make it Winter, just so it would be easier for other people to spell. Why not use my real name? Well, I don't have anything against it, save that I view it as a chapter in my life that I want to move away from, changing from the person that I was (or am), to the person I want to be.
I've been thinking and analyzing the subject. Simply by adding a column to the database tables, having its value default to username, and have the forum retrieve it rather than username when displaying posts wouldn't be terribly difficult to do. Sure it would cause some confusion when looking at posts made prior to the display name change, but for the most part, that only applies to old and typically forgotten posts. And then just adding a limiting factor that would only allow the user to change their display name once per month would be a simple module to code and implement. It could be placed under account settings. There would be other inconveniences of course, but with some time, and perhaps some system optimization, we could get this to work. Especially if your profile page would also display your username, and perhaps a list of past display names. This of course is theoretical, and would require the approval of higher authorities.
My name came from When i thought of me and my brothers names combining. My Brothers name is Daniel and Mine is david. So we came up with danvid when we use to share a online game account. The 23 is random.. lol.
Bot-chan is the name of an old character (unrelated to ponies) of mine who since became somewhat of my mascot.
Well, the moon part of my name comes from Luna. Darkmoon is the name of my OC, I was originally thinking of the name Prince Eclipse, but I found out that was already taken. Darkmoon was the first thing with moon in it that entered my head that reflected the OC's nature as a creature of the night. Now when I think about it, I may have involentarily taken the name from the Darkmoon Grass item in Demon's Souls.
I've had many usernames over the years, yet I never found one that I really liked enough to go by, or I would've used that instead. Honestly, I had just taken one of those "which character are you most like?" quizzes for MLP right before I registered here, and I got Scootaloo as the result. Since she wasn't technically a main character, I figured what the hay, and used her name as my username. Chicken jokes ensued, and fun was had.
The name Rashall was just kind of created out of thin air, I liked it so it stuck. It is also the name of a captain in my Warhammer 40k story.
