*squee!*ing liberal *squee!*ass mother*squee!*ers trying to brainwash the entire *squee!*ing country with their touchy-feely politically correct BULL*squee!*. They can ALL line right up and KISS THE FATTEST PART OF MY ASS.
The Robert E. Lee thing, actually. I've got mixed opinions about LGBT issues, but I do think that the new South Carolina laws are bull*squee!*.
Ah, that. Yeah, he's a historical figure, just like Lincoln, who wasn't exactly a saint himself. There's seventy billion *squee!*ing schools named after Lincoln, so why is Lee so bad? I do sort of agree on one hand, but I'm surprisingly indifferent for the most part. Odd coming from someone as left as me, but hear me out. Trans people can use the bathrooms they want, that's cool, it's not hurting anybody. For the most part, you'd only even notice if you looked at their stuff anyway, which is kinda creepy to do. They can't, oh well, I don't view *squee!*ting in public where you want to *squee!* in public as that huge an issue.
The laws themselves aren't the problem so much as the intent behind the laws. They were clearly written to blatantly discriminate against a minority group that really hasn't done anything wrong. It's like the political equivalent of beating up the wimpy quiet kid on the playground.
Oh, I thought we were talking specifically about the laws. Yeah, you're right, it's *squee!*ing bullying. Can't argue with that.
More people are enslaved to the government now then the were to the slave holders back then. Does anyone know Robert E. Lee's opinion on slavery? Could it have been he was just fighting for his country. Not that I think succession was legitimate, but I don't blame the soldiers for fighting for their government. I have not seen the south Carolina law. But if its simply use a restroom that matches the junk you have then I got no problem with it. We let people do what they want there will be those that abuse it, and it's going to out shine the people that are doing thing right anyway.
Robert E. Lee was actually Lincoln's first choice as leader of the Union army, but he ultimately decided he had to "Go with his state" which had succeeded, so he ended up being the leader of the Confederate Army instead. He wasn't a fierce defender of the right to hold slaves or anything. Considering the era he came from, he was a pretty decent guy. Especially compared to some of the pieces of human garbage that made up the rest of the Confederate power structure. Also, no-one's 'enslaved to the Government' in the US. Not in the true 'work 18 hours in a burning hot field, get beaten if you step out of line or if we just feel like it, live in a shack full of medieval diseases, then die or get sold to some guy halfway across the state' context the word 'slavery' is being used here. Don't belittle the *squee!* those people had to put up with.
