Happy Hearth's Warming Day, everypony! Wait... It's the middle of May. Never mind. Anyway, what did you think of the episode? Personally, I thought it was quite enjoyable, and had some pretty good songs throughout.
Snape Pony was awesome, and Spike was being ridiculously meta. Also there were songs. Lots of songs. Villain song, Luna song, all sorts of songs. I liked it. 8/10
Spike, the element of brutal honesty Also, the episode was quite good IMO, the songs were awesome! And Derpy is best christmas star :3
Thoughts below in spoilers as always. Spoiler I wish I had a lot to say about this one. I really do. But I really don't. Unfortunately, I'm not too keen on 'musical episodes.' (See Crusaders of the Lost Mark and the S3 Finale) I'm not saying the episode was bad though. It was pretty much yet another rehash of 'A Christmas Carol.' Except with ponies. I've never really had a firm opinion one way or the other when it comes to that story either. However, it did remind me and make me realize that A Christmas Carol is pretty much the most well known 'redemption story.' I liked the Derpy antics and seeing Vinyl Scratch and Octavia together in the background a lot though. Also I think they broke the 4th wall with that 'voice actor' thing. Does Tara do Pinkie's singing voice? I honestly don't know as I don't really know all the voice actor stuff. ALSO LUNA. YAY LUNA. Her music part was probably my favorite. Not because it was Luna (though that didn't hurt) but that song I actually somewhat liked. LUNA IS APPARENTLY GOOD AT EVERYTHING. That's about all I can say. Sorry. I'm not a big fan of musical episodes. So I'd say this was a 'somewhat okay' episode.
Starlight Glimmer evil form. Starlight Glimmer good form. Seems like when every time she's a bad guy character her mane changes or she transforms.
At least she caught on quicker than Sunset Shimmer that a change of heart also absolutely requires a change of appearance. No one is going to take your repentance seriously if you run around still looking like a super-villain. Okay, now about the episode. It was okay, I guess. I usually don't mind yet another variation of this story, even a watered down version, but mixing that with Starlight's own backstory somehow made the story weaker, at least in my opinion. Two retellings for the price of one... yay... But Twilight was cute and Spike was pretty good, too, even though I found it strange how Starlight didn't react at all to his little quip. Oh well.
This was a good really episode. Loved the songs, especially Luna's song. Overall, I'd give it a 8.5/10. Looks like I'm not the only one who noticed Snape as a pony.
I loved every song. Each one flowed into the next flawlessly (much better than the other musical episodes at any rate). Plus epic LUNA SONG out of nowhere. Also, spirit ponies confirmed?
