I don't think there are only two options here... They could decide that crime is easier and 1. Rob you and get away with it to get money. 2. Rob you and get caught, getting 3 hots and a cot. Most people would rather do this than die too. For those with a "dead lazy ass", don't you think they'd pick the option that takes less work? Point a gun at someone or go work at the farm 8+ hours a day?
3. Try to rob me and get a nice slab in the morgue, thus solving all their problems permanently. This is America. We have guns, and we're not afraid to use 'em.
Not everyone carries guns... Or do you only care about yourself, as long as you aren't robbed, it's okay? Is part of "Making America Great Again" reverting to Old West mentality? Back to welfare and you wanting to get rid of it - What about people who physically can't work? Are we eliminating their welfare too or just the welfare you don't like? And then who chooses who deserves it or not? Don't we already have that? Don't you have to apply for welfare? Isn't welfare fraud already a crime?
true. if they have any lethal weapons, and they threaten you with them, then killing them is completely justified
I don't consider disability payments to be welfare, but I do think people are taking advantage of the system. I actually used to be on disability for my Aspergers. For years, I was told by doctors that I wouldn't be able to keep a job... until I finally stopped listening to them and started working. This concerns me, because if I was on disability and didn't need to be, how many others are abusing the system?
Well from what I'm seeing with SSI, they are now saying that unless you have some obvious physical disability, you may not be able to get benefits anymore. Even if you had SSI before they decided to so this.
I don't see that as a bad thing. It's too easy for people to get disability, when the reality is, it takes a lot for someone to be too disabled to work. In fact, when I went to the office to cancel my disability checks, the woman handling the paperwork had no arms. Seriously. I'd love to see somebody trying to tell her why they're too disabled to hold down a job.
I not argue that it is going to be good to crack down on those who use it only to abuse it. The reason I'm bringing it up though is for those like myself which have conditions not so readily obvious without doctor confirmation, that those like myself could end up being cut off for the reason of not being 'disabled enough' to be able to use such benefits provided by SSI. Then again there are two kinds that I'm aware of SSI and SSDI. SSDI is more for crippling conditions which require disability. The thing is, I personally don't abuse the money given to me. I use it for needs like my rent and groceries. It helps since the city I live in makes finding jobs rather impossible 90% of the time. If I lose my SSI, I lose a my apartment.
It just goes to show that these companies will do just about anything to maximize their profit margins, whether legal or illegal in nature. I haven't researched the issue thoroughly, but I sometimes wonder if extortionate tuition rates over here in the United States help contribute to worker shortages in some skilled sectors.
I've been holding back this entire time. No more. I'm done holding back. After the primaries yesterday... it's now obvious who will be going up against one another in 2016 Presidential Election. The choice couldn't be more obvious. DONALD TRUMP IS AN *squee!*. THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT. THERE ARE NO IFS, ANDS, OR BUTS ABOUT IT. HE. IS. AN. *squee!*. If you vote for this *squee!*. Here's what you are really voting for and revealing about yourself: 1. You are voting for WORLD WAR III 2. You are voting for CIVIL WAR II 3. You ARE a racist 4. You ARE a bigot 5. You ARE a sexist 6. You ARE islamaphobic THE END. NO IFS. NO ANDS. NO BUTS. THE. END. With that you now know how I really feel. As always, I won't be responding to anything in response to this post. I'll take my first warning on here now....
Oh, am I now? It couldn't possibly be because I'm sick and *squee!*ing tired of seeing The United States of America, the country that I love, being economically and morally raped by criminals and degenerates. It couldn't possibly be because I have seen this country at its best, and I want that back. It couldn't possibly because I watched Americans die at the hands of the same people that we're now expected to welcome with open arms. And of course, it couldn't possibly be because I believe in this country, its Constitution, and everything that it has stood for for two hundred and forty years. No. I'm a racist. I'm a bigot. I'm a sexist, and I'm an Islamophobe. I didn't realize I was such a terrible person. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
*sighs* that's my opinion of Trump, but not all his supporters. some of them are like Ridley, who's actually a pretty damn cool guy. although, immigration actually isn't a problem anymore, and then there's the fact that the immigrants that are already here form the *squee!*ing backbone of our economy. if we deported them all, our economy would collapse
Not true at all. The number of illegal immigrants in the United States is estimated at 11.4 million, according to the DHS. Let's assume that half of them are employed at legitimate enterprise. It's hard to estimate, but I'd call it a fair guess. If those 5.7 million jobs were vacated, all that would happen is that 5.7 million jobs would now be available to the 8.3 million unemployed Americans looking for work today. So... 5.7 newly employed American citizens... paying taxes, making purchases, and not relying on government assistance... how would that be bad for the economy?
half of them? half? if it was that few, I'm pretty sure crime would be a good bit worse than it is now. and besides, why would trump even do that? the corporations would do everything in their power to block it, and it's entirely possible, even likely, that he would listen to them.
