Please hold any and all gun control discussions in this thread. I helped derail another thread into a gun control debate and for that, I apologize. For any current and future threads that may being up gun control, please move that discussion here and keep the original thread on the original content. Thank you!
well to be fair it was the Orlando Shooting. of course people are gonna talk about guns also I think there is already one of these http://www.everypony.com/threads/pro-gun-vs-pro-control-debate.8816
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” There's my argument. What's yours?
I'm with Rid. Too bad the media NEVER reports on guns being used the proper way. No controversy, no ratings. And people ask me why I never watch the news.
she's an officer though your average yahoo waving around a gun for "protection" would only add chaos to a situation.
The average responsible gun owner doesn't "wave a gun around." There have been many occasions where armed criminals have been subdued or killed by armed civilians. I've been around guns and gun owners my entire life, and nearly every one of them was as well-trained in marksmanship and gun safety as any police officer.
majority not all I've seen the dumb hicks, I know they exist. all I meant to say with my comment was that there is a time and place for guns. in a shooting in a public place it's better to have more trained people with guns rather then average people with guns
The problem with that is the time it takes for the police to respond. Even if only takes five minutes for the cops to get in and put down the shooter, that's still plenty of time to kill a lot of people. Now, compare that five minutes to the fifteen seconds it takes John Q. Gunowner to pull out his gun and put a couple in the back of the shooter's head. See where I'm going with this?
did it? I never heard of this john gunowner it could though if a lot of people decide they need to carry guns around in public, for safety. especially somewhere with poor viability, like a club or a movie theater.
Okay, well, fine. This approach isn't getting us anywhere, so let's try something different. Open Question: How do you propose we deal with gun crime in America?
That's the sad thing about how our country works. One person who goes off the deep end can screw things up for law abiding citizens.
Facts like these undermine the agenda of various anti-gun groups and politicians. Another inconvenient fact for them is that gun violence has been on a downward trajectory since the early 1990's. The goal of these anti-gun politicians isn't about saving lives. It isn't about making us safer. It is all about giving the "one percent" a monopoly on the possession of firearms.
