My dad asked me where I wanted to go for our birthday dinner (our birthdays are a day apart. His is the 16th, mine's the 17th.). I said that I wanted to go to my favorite German restaurant. It's calm, it's quiet, the food is excellent, and I know the people there. He informed me that we wouldn't be doing that, and that instead, his wife (technically my stepmother, I guess?) was planning on taking us to Hamburger Mary's, a drag bar in Tampa. It will not be calm. It will not be quiet. The food has gotten terrible reviews. I will not not know anyone there. And quite frankly, a lot of drag queens creep me the hell out. They're like clowns in silly dresses.
It's a little weird to hang horseshoes up on your wall, especially near your bed. It's like us putting up our sneakers or workboots for display.
Tell them how you feel, let them know that you will not have a good time there, and politely decline their invitation to the bar. Have two birthday dinners? One for each birthday - they can go to the bar one night and the next you go to the German place. Because German food is awesome when done right. I'm not in favor of someone else picking where I go for my birthday either.
When I was doing maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, etc. of HVAC equipment last summer, I was using SPF 80 to SPF 100 sunscreen just to be safe. Not the SPF 50 stuff to to which you refer. I suppose you get to stay at home in your pajamas when you program your own stuff.
Well, looks like we're going to Hooters, instead. Still not ideal, but at least the food's good. On the plus side, since she's huge Potterhead, we're all gonna go see Fantastic Beasts afterwards.
