    When Space Pirates destroyed the colony, she was rescued by the Chozo and trained as a warrior on Zebes.
    There, she was infused with Chozo DNA to enhance her abilities and allow her to use Chozo weapons.
    She was also infused with Metroid DNA after the events of Super Metroid.

    So, she's a born human with alien DNA and biology.
