    In my opinion, Sonic Rainboom should not generally be the first episode you show someone. I think someone would appreciate Rainbow Dash's awesomeness in that episode a lot more if they had seen all the episodes with her before that and knew her a bit better. Or is that just me? I don't know, I just prefer to watch a series--even cartoons which are supposedly made so you can watch the episodes in whatever order--in the "correct" order. :p
