Alright, let's start by stating the obvious: Everypony is not doing well. Activity is down to the point that we sometimes go half a day without a new post. When I joined, we had one or two Intro posts per day. Now, we're lucky to get one new member a month. We all know what the problems are. How do we fix 'em?
Advertising the site would help. I offered to fund some Derpi ad space once, but I stopped hearing back about that. We could also try to be the change we want to see. I occasionally see people hop on just to whine about how the site is dying, then make no other posts. If you do this, I'm calling you out now. Stop it. We could also try to do more community activities. Movie nights, maybe? It tends to work okay when I do movie nights in PonyLab. That, too.
Movie Night is a good idea. Maybe set it up for GMT, ̶s̶o̶ ̶i̶t̶ ̶d̶o̶e̶s̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶f̶l̶i̶c̶t̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶ ̶P̶o̶n̶y̶L̶a̶b̶ ̶ to accommodate the UK population on the site.
I honestly have no clue. Every attempt at trying to bring back things I like when I first joined ended in failure.
Advertising, I think, has been done a few times already since I've been here. It only temp works and then activity plummets again. I wish there was a solution with that which works permanently, but nope. As for the people pointed out the slow death of the site and dropping off, that doesn't happen enough to be annoying. Then again, I'm not one when some people are, so I don't see everything. However, I agree though. We get it, the site's dying. Move on already.
Oh I completely forgot, me and tyro were talking about possibly opening up to more communities so instead of just a Brony community we could possibly branch out into a Brony + Gaming community with staff streams and possibly hangouts on games and stuff. What are your guys thoughts on that idea?
Hmmm. That could work. Having some form of adaptability to a different genera of fan. Yeah, I like the idea. That would drag bronies and non-bronies alike of the gamer type. That would be actually rather beneficial to getting things ramped up more in here. Maybe the gaming section of general media will blow up more.
Huh. Guys, we need to think long and hard about this. The site is called Everypony for a reason, and while I'm willing to try just about anything to bring it back to its former glory, I'm pretty hesitant about doing so by changing the core essence of the site itself.
I already talked to tyro about this as I said, we arent outright removing bronies just introducing another element that is core. so the communtiy as a whole would be gamer bronies
A little side note, and I may be biased, but I think we should be encouraging more members to RP, both as staff and as a community. Not only does it encourage people to come back to the site, but it also helps build really strong relationships between people. Okay, yeah, I'm definitely biased. But still, I think it's something to consider.
Definitely this. The RP section was a huge reason behind why I was originally part of this site, and its slow death is a big reason why I left the site for awhile. I also know several who think the same.
Understood, but will it be advertised as a forum for gamer bronies? Had EP been a forum for "gamer bronies" back in 2013, I can say for certain that I wouldn't have joined. I'm not saying it wouldn't bring in more people. It very well could. But it also has the potential to drive away members of the traditional EP demographic. And that's not a decision that should be made lightly, and certainly not without the input of the whole community.
