Yeah, so we have a Discord server! You knew that, right? It's, uh, right up there. ^ Found it? Good. So now let's talk about it. Ways to improve it, maybe some bots to add if that ever happens, that sort of thing.
Staff have discussed this and just as I had mentioned we feel it is fine the way it is and that we have enough channels. We wouldn't want to attract attention away from the main hub for the community (that being the forum) now would we.
Maybe not, but remember how many members were Chat-exclusive back in the day? All I know is Old Days=Lots of members/Now=Not so much. So I'm just saying that maybe part of the problem is that stuff got fixed that wasn't broke.
You're ignoring the requests of multiple members without a good explanation beyond "because we said so." In this case, it's something small. But maybe next time it won't be. And that concerns me. ************************************************************************************* I will say is that the Discord could be an important tool, if you're willing to take a few risks. Specifically, I think you should expand the server to become a recruiting tool, rather than a resource for people who are already here. Open the server, and encourage new members of the server to join EP.
If you want to use discord as a way to recruit members the suggested channels of *squee!*posting and memes will certainly not help with that. Please believe me when staff are talking and thinking of other ways to attract more members. Discord is fine the way it is, we have other means in the works.
I believe you, I just wish y'all would us lowly non-staff peasants in on what's going on. Maybe even let us offer some suggestions, too. And the Discord thing isn't about the channel, it's about staff members ignoring regular members without discussion or reason. "Because we said so" just ain't gonna cut it.
WE did discuss it though, and we gave our reasons against it. As fur staff telling you what is going on I have already told you our plans to possibly start streaming and that we have discussed stuff about the radio.
There is wherein the issue lay. There has been little discussion, that I have seen on here, about that. Ridley is merely pointing out that it's been mostly between staff and none of us in the community have been getting too much say in suggestions. There has been talk here and there, but ultimately it seems our suggestions are shut out in favor of popular vote of the staff. Which even makes me question if there is more going on that is not being mentioned. I get there is a level of consurn for security if we did it Discord to the Forum when it comes to recruiting. However, as long as there is some form of mediation on the Discord front, there should be hardly any issues staff couldn't isolate, quickly remove ,and/or fix.
As rude as it is to say this, you must understand that the final decision lays in the staffs hands on these things, we do not have to take your suggestions if we do not see them as being beneficial and we can just dismiss them. Not that this is always the case. We try to take suggestions and be as transparent as possible to the community but please accept that it can not always be the case. Staff have already agreed that the discord is fine as it is and nothing need be added. There is nothing else to discuss so I will be locking this thread.
