I'm terribly sorry, as I realize this is pretty old, but I had an idea and this is the only place... Like that little "Cutie Mark" field in the profile you implemented, wouldn't it be neat if you could add a "Favorite Pony" field?
I have suggestions in terms of design. I'd like to see a more solid and definable colour scheme. The current seems to be light green, dark blue, white, orange/red and dark blue. I'd go for a two or three colour scheme, and force it throughout all areas and designs of the website. I like the Everypony banner but it's kind of thrown into the header. How about making Ponyville fill the entire width (as the banner's background). That's all I can think of at this time, hope it helps.
Most people will represent their favourite pony well enough in their signature or avatar not to mention welcome posts... I'd like to keep from stretching the postbit too much but I'll keep it in mind! As for the colour scheme it's far from a primary concern atm and no one else has said anything about it yet. There are other styles to choose from including a very stable blue one under the name cloudsdale, that could be more to your liking although I don't know where this Orange is coming from? o_o
The orange/red colour is in the "Everypony" banner. I'll take a look-see at the different theme options, although I reckon the default should be cleaned up a bit.
Really more or less atm it's a gender specefier, of course we tried to make it a little more fun by adding in the races Who knows, we may add some more to it in the future, but if we did I'd imagine it'd be something a bit more "practical" (as in more people'd use it) like maybe "Zebra" or "Pegacorn" Though don't hold me to that, I have no control over that anyway. @Pegacorn, I'd avise against that though simply for "balancing" so to speak, there's only 2 shown in the show for a reason haha
I got this idea while listening to "Make a man out of you" on the radio. Yes I realize that this site is entirely dedicated to ponies, but I think It would be safe to say that it's okay to indulge in the not so Equine aspects of things every now and then as a community that we seem to of accumulated here on Everypony. Pretty much what I'm thinking is that every now and then we host a movie night broadcasting some of our favorite movies from our youths, such as The Lion King or Mulan. And maybe some other movies that aren't from Disney. This can help not only promote the site, but it'll get some people slightly more active in the community while thinking about and discussing the movies that we might be watching. As for picking the movie, We could simply have a nomination + voting system going on where people can nominate a movie by posting in a thread, and if it get's a vote by at least one other member then it can be put up on the ballot. From there the community can vote for which movie they would like to view. I have no idea the technical or legal mumbo jumbo of any of this, but I'm just pointing out what could be done if it already hasn't been suggested already. (I'm saying this because I hear Disney is strict with the whole legal thing) Anyway, that's pretty much it. Opinions? Edit: Also, if we do this, I demand to hear DJs singing along to the Disney songs!
I have a minor suggestion. After reading over this thread, there appears to be some discrepancy about the gender neutrality of the term "brony." I understand that there are options that have (m) and (f) as male and female gender identifiers respectively on some of the species available. My guess is "pony" was meant to be the female equivalent of "brony." However, I've seen some posts, not only on here, but in other locations of the Internet, indicating that "brony" can be applied to both genders. So, I'm merely suggesting that instead of just "brony", have a "brony (f)" and "brony (m)" option to alleviate this discrepancy. I suppose "pony (m)" and "pony (f)" could work too for those that want to use their ponysona's gender (those that aren't pegacorns, pegasi or unicorns). In the context of the show, both males and females are still referred to as ponies, right? Just a thought.
While the idea is sound, it should probably go in the Radio's forum - But that's not a big deal. The big deal is, getting a hold of said movie and airing it legally - Movies actually state they are for personal use only - It's a bit fishy with episodes on youtube, but I think if hasbro hasn't taken them off youtube, they won't take them off our stream etc. But when do you see full length movies on youtube? =/ ~ Eponymous, yeah your probably right there, I'll change that!
Legally we'd never be able to host a movie on the Radio. Well, until we get the "Ok" from the creators, that is. And I think that's pretty much impossible.
Perhaps play videos from YT with the creators permission? Just like a few of em, maybe a hours worth or so? Its pretty easy to get them(a message on YT or other site etc) It wouldn't be movies, but its kind of the same.
I'm thinking there should perhaps be an over 16 section of the site, where people can talk about more intimate or "controversial" topics without worrying about being banned for inappropriate material. I'm not sure how you would moderate something like that, unless you literally called the section "mature", warned people of it's content and left it up to the viewer whether they wanted to enter.
