Rarity must choose between her friends and important social connections in Canterlot.
Over all a good episode. Toward the end it got a little hectic. Fancy pants unicorn girl was a nice break from their usual body style.
I have to say, this comes right into my top favorite episodes. It was great. The humor was great. Pinkie Pie party Canon FTW i think it'd be too long post to list everything I liked about this episode, and I'm too hungry and too lazy atm to write it all down. I'll just say that this is kinda of episode in style of season 1 why I started to like MLP:FiM so much in the first place.
Was anyone else surprised Spike wasn't in this? You would've thought he would've gone to Twilight's party (and want to see Rarity...)
Also: Rarity Art Gallery Outift and Hair!!! SO WIN. This episode made me nervous. I wasn't sure if I liked it a couple of times just because I felt SO sorry for Rarity that it made me uncomfortable! It was alright in the end though. I really like Fancy pants as a character. I hope to see more of him at some point.
*inhales deeply* OCTAAAAAAAAVVVVVVVVVVIIIIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ...Ahem...yes...I liked this episode. :3 Rarity episodes are usually some of my favourites. It was interesting to see just how torn she was between her friends and the "ideal" Canterlot lifestyle. This concept was bound to be explored at some point in the series. Although obviously Rarity shouldn't have lied about Rainbow Dash being the trainer for the Wonderbolts, I was kind of hoping that would play a part later on in the episode. I wonder what Rainbow's reaction would be. On one hoof, she's Loyalty, so she could have been annoyed about one of her friends lying about her just to make the friend look better. On the other hoof, I could also see Rainbow taking it as a compliment because...well, she's Rainbow. Also she would probably love the idea of being the Wonderbolt's trainer. XD Poor Opalescence. There, I said it. I know cats, and she will never, EVER forgive Rarity. Anyway, OCTAVIAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Seriously, nice little cameo. I was almost hoping Pinkie would interact with her or something as a little continuity nod/gag, but alas, it was not meant to be. Just her appearing was awesome. <333333 That mare with Fancy pants (I don't think she was named...guess the fandom will hafta' think up something~) looked a lot like a young Celestia, right down to the pink hair we saw in the first episode's storybook prologue thing. EDIT 2: EDIT: I bet the voice actor wasn't available.
I liked this episode, as well as the song. Actually I am suprised they didn't know who Rainbow Dash was, after all, ain't she the only pony in hundreds of years that can perform a sonic rainboom? Though they seemingly don't know the name of the Wonderbolt's trainer either, so Fancypants and the others do not seem to know much about sports. However, is not technically Twilight of higher status than the nobles of Canterlot, she is Celestia's student after all. Also, she got the castle for her party with very short notice. Still, these ponies don't know of her?
Good point. Of course, Rarity's apparently worked with Hoity Toity and that apparently didn't make her well-known in Canterlot. I assume that they didn't know who the Wonderbolt's trainer was because it's not really known to the public, or maybe Fancy pants simply didn't know. As for Twilight, well, they might know the Princess has a student named Twilight Sparkle but not what she looks like. She probably didn't get out much, knowing Twilight--or at least who she was before the whole Elements of Harmony thing. Unless one counts Luna, he's my favourite pony new to Season Two so far. EDIT: Also his...girlfriend?...is interesting. I'm seeing some people insulting her (won't repeat what exactly they're saying)...what exactly did she do that was so bad??
I wish someone would post this episode on youtube. :[ Is there anywhere someone can find this episode who was late for the livestream?
I didn't even realise you could watch it on livestream, I always watch on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bb2yplQKIy4
A nicely done episode, well thought out and very entertaining. Good balance between story and comedy. Did you notice that in this episode, ALL resident ponies of Canterlot were unicorns? Except for the porter and the window cleaner, that is. I wasn't aware that Canterlot was so...exclusive. Yeah, Fancy pants is a good new character. Very likable, particularly for a high society type. The unnamed pink female companion of his is no doubt going to get her fair share of fan art, and some of it may fall into non-G-rated categories. She is drawn as excessively cute.
Wow looking back i didnt put that together. Nice catch. Derpy is in the song, she has a bag on her head. Its when it cuts to everyone talking to one another.
I liked the song. The letter to Princess Celestia was "meh" though. I half expected Celestia to say "Nope. Try again!"
