I'm sure everyone has noticed with the new channels, you now cannot watch videos within the channel; it takes you outside their channel, with their uploads in a playlist. While I think that its stupid that it has to load a new page to play the video instead of just playing it within the channel like the previous layout; you are unable to go to any previous video in that playlist! You have to click onto their channel again then manually choose the previous video. Has anyone else noticed this? The "uploads in a playlist" thing doesn't totally bother me, its just that you can't go to any previous video. It seems that YouTube has moved backwards. The channels were easy to navigate, and videos could be watched within the channel, which decreased loading times. Now you have to constantly go back in forth between the channel and the video you select because the playlist at the bottom only allows you to move to the next videos, not watch previous ones....
I like how it LOOKS, but when you click a video, it takes you outside of their channel with the playlist at the bottom. Normally I would like this, but for one thing. You can only move forward within that playlist. Clicking the left arrow doesn't scroll to previous videos, and the "Previous Video" button seems to load a random video on their channel.
You are a genius. Thank you! But I haven't figured out if the "Previous Video" is supposed to do that, or if that is a bug. It seems like a bug because you can't even scroll left to see the previous uploads.
You're very welcome, sir. I think it's a bug, YouTube Meistro has already said it was being fixed. I'm just happy to help.
What do I think of the new Youtube Look and Feel? Hmm... I could just simply say what it reminds me of. The buttons and panels look a lot like Java's AWT UI, Where as some of the Lists, Dropdowns and Scrollable panels look like the default Component set inf Flash. All in all; It looks like the problem child of Java AWT and Flash UI. My personal opinion, Is that this is terrible user interface. Sorry if I'm being up front, But that is my unfiltered opinion on the matter. As for all the little problems with the Look and Feel, The various mis-functions with buttons and links, Well, That's Youtube doing an implementation without Having the thing go through QA properly. I just hope they sort the problems out, Or I'm completely converting to MegaVideo. Their UI, albeit over-the-top quirky, Is at least non-reminiscent of Java AWT.
I know, but they really should test these things before release, not have a bunch of problems to fix after.
Aside from the bugs, the new UI is brilliant. Its well organized, I can actually find stuff, and don't want to throw up looking at it. Suffice to say I now actually check my subscriptions whereas before I avoided the main page like a plague. Also, with adblock on, its even nicer.
I like the layout. But once you get under the skin, the bugs are annoying. So I hope they will fix them quick, then the new Youtube will be great.
