First of all, they think Ponys are for gay people.
Second of all, my dad says i need to stop looking at anything related to ponys...
And finally, my parents hardly even let me on here.. since its pony related.

It's stuff like that makes me don't want to live on this planet anymore.

That all my Friends know i'm a Brony and are Fine with it and some are bronies, themselves. the Last thing i need my parents to know is that i am one, even tho i take risks of own the shirts and (by the way i got the Dumb Fabric Shirt today, by the way) it's been 1 year 2 months since i became one back in November of 2010 and lucky me they didn't fine out. They seen the wallpaper but don't know what it is and i keep it that way. The only concern i have is that my brother might know i am one but he's keeping his mouth shut since i know many secrets i kept shut for him.

*Edit* I'm not ashamed for any reason, since it's just a cartoon show, why it should matter to anyone really is what i don't get to people.

why should you be ashamed of something so cool? I walk around with my pride over my back, even though I have no shirt to show it... I hate being broke sometimes...

I guess I still kinda hide it, haha.

But if any one of my friends ask, I'll be honest with them. :]

Dude, I'm so sorry your parents think that way.

After a few months of ups and downs I think I'm fully over my shame now. Nobody I really care about is looking strange at me anymore for watching this show. I just kept doing pony-stuff and act like it's something normal, which it is really. Now one of my friends recently even started watching (and liking) the show himself. I'm kind of proud of him for daring to take that step.

Keep in mind it's just a cartoon which happens to be very good and worthy of obsessing a little about. No need to bring yourself down and be ashamed of yourself. :3 And people who make a big deal out of you watching MLP usually aren't very interesting to begin with.

But of course it's another story when it's your parents.
Sigh, I'm sorry Danvid but the only confort I can give you is they might tolerate your interests more when you get older. You're only thirteen after all.

I know how you feel, man. My dad has tried several times to keep me from anything relating to Bronies (and furries as well, come to think of it. I think that he thinks both that and ponies are what "made" me bisexual... go figure. :/).

But, thankfully, so far he's failed completely (skillful use of proxies FTW!). Couple that with a good computer and OS offline that allows me to quickly switch out things pony-related, and my mom actually supporting me, and I've got a nice fortress of secrecy from my dad. Still, it's a bit unnerving to hide it, even with such support.

Never had to hide, my dad not only knows, he was wondering at first, because it seemed odd for me (I like gore movies too) then gave it a shot, isn't a brony, but he liked it, my sister knows, my niece is a brony herself...

I'm startled at how much that "shame" is an issue at all... Maybe negative reactions are fueled by our shyness talking about it, I'm a 14FT tall guy talking bucking serious about it, and nobody LoLed at me...

I hate that some parents think they have the right to dictate what intrests their child is allowed to have. Children are people too and they should be allowed to have a will of their own. I think a childrens civil rights group is needed in America because they have the right to freedom of speach and freedom of religion like everyone else in the country.

Why do people always think you can turn gay? You cannot, either you are born gay or you are not. Watching or not watching a TV show can't change that. Despite, being gay have no connection with liking girly things, I have seen gay people who are really macho and straght people who are really feminine. Not that FIM is really that girly in my opinion, especially not Rainbow Dash, in fact, I think she is manlier than Chuck Norris and more badflank than Rambo. If people just look past the title, they would not find this show to be exclusivly a girl show.

Good to know I´m not the only one! Now, to be perfectly honest, I do have a bit of brony shame... I just don´t feel comfortable with everyone knowing that I like this little ponies, (I still don´t know why), however I don´t really have to do anything to hide it, my friends have seen some pony realted wallpapers on my PSP, I sometimes make jokes with references to the show (That, of course, they never understand) and more than once they have heard me singing songs from the show (It´ a good thing that most of them can´t understand english, however they do undertand the word pony, and that´s more than enough) but; since I am a bit like Pinkie (when it comes to randomness) they don´t take it seriously, to them, it´s just some kind of joke, and of course they don´t even dare to make fun of me for that (I guess being big and mean looking is not so bad after all). So far only my parents, my brother and three of my best friends know that I actually like the show, and they are cool with it... of course they still can´t understand why I like the show, and well, they do tease me a bit, but it´s okay, they just joke about it a little, it´s kinda fun actually!

My mom knows i watch this, I tried converting her to a brony but she won't watch lol. TWO of my best friends know i watch this and no hate. :3 I'm proud of watching a show like this but I would be ashamed to say in public :p and I would never tell my dad haha...

And what's with the girls being proud of watching? they can ... it's normal... when people find out GUYS are watching my little pony... "OMG YOU ARE WEIRD" "OMG YOU ARE DISGUSTING" "AHAHAHA" but when girls tell everyone... they get "okay" so why are you so proud? I could be proud.. but random people can be disgusted with guys liking this show while girls.. can watch it and they are normal.. you can't be proud, you are the ones who are normal... "not" the males. :(

There's nothing wrong in females having pride in being a brony. Teens and adult women are still outside the target demographic. I think it's awesome that there is much diversity in our fandom. Anyone can be a brony and feel proud.

My parents know about me being a brony, and they have no problem with it. My sister is even a fan of the show as well. However, I do hide this fact from two particular friends of mine, neither of whom seem to realize what a brony is. What's worse is that one of them has a tendency to tease me all the time about various things, so if he found out about this, well, I won't know what to do.

But thankfully, I'm good with keeping secrets, so for now I don't think I have to worry too much.....

My parents do not know I am a brony, and I don't intend to tell them. I have yet to ever have any sort of love life, so they think I'm gay already (I assure you, I'm heterosexual). I planned on telling my sister once...until about a month ago. When we went to Florida for a vacation, we were talking on the plane, and she says "Dude! Hey, did you know there's these wierd people who like My Little Pony? They call themselves Bronies!". At that moment, the only thing going through my head was 'S***!". I managed to reply with "Of course I know about them, I spend half my time on 4Chan!". She just replied with "Oh, yeah." and we changed the subject.

To the current day, the only bronies I know are the two who converted me: My cousin and one of my friends (It was brought up during a failed troll attempt by me on my friend, but that's a different story). My cousin recently bought me a brony shirt, and we're both planning on wearing brony shirts at a summer camp we're going to over the summer. I can't wait until then! /)^3^(\

I tell everyone that asks, I wear a pony shirt 3-4 days a week. I used to hide it, but about 5 months (i think, might be 7 now) I decided to stop hiding it. Why should I hide something I love because others don't like it or find it weird. Of course I get insult sometimes and laughter from normal people seeing me wearing my shirts. Why should I care what they think. They laugh at me for ponies and I bet they do something at home that they thing is weird.
