I like this episode. An other one focused on Spike, why not. In more he plays the role of the miserable guy, it works nicely. Fortunatly Rarity bring him back to reason. By the way, you think not that one often see Rarity? She is often in foreground. Actually that does not disturb me too much, as long as Pinkie Pie still there
I have to say, before it was airing, I didn't expect much from this episode (as you could read on page one of this topic), but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The Wonderbolts were funny, there were lot of sigegags that were funny. but best thing about episode was way Spike's love saved ponyville from.... himself. Also (since I'm SpikexRarity supporter), I'm glad they did somewhat of a shipping of SpikexRarity in canon. (when they were falling, and Spike was saying to Rarity about his feelings, when Rarity put her hoof on Spike's mouth, she had tears in eyes, and smiled, as she was glad to hear that, and that she feels (maybe) same way). (I'll open new topic about this soon anyway)
I really loved this episode! Was skeptical at first because the episode didn't seem to interesting when you read the plot, but it was really amazing! And the King Kong reference was just great! ^^" And the ending was really good and cute. But to be honest I'm not really a couple supporter anymore for anything, since I was to much into that in the Sonic-fandom.. But it wasn't to much thankfully! I just wonder how the relationship between them is going to be in the future since Rarity really know how he feels now.
First off, am I the only one who thought "G1 Spike" when Spike started to grow? Secondly, I think it was nice to see the Wonderbolts actually DO THEIR JOBS. (They get taken down easily, but it's the thought that counts.) Last but not least, all together now! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=wFaXTcR4dtE#t=208s
This is now my favourite episode. Rarity x Spike just seems so adorable, I think it could be my new favourite ship... King Kong reference was just hilarious and new side-character names! Also, Derpy at 7:16. :derpe:
Some scenes in the episode were so cute and sweet, they can lead to medical problems.
What a complete turnaround from season one's Spike episode for me. This is easily one of the most enjoyable episodes from this season that I've watched, and it's because of the number of small things that were included throughout, like Pinkie teleporting in front of Twilight instead of Spike, and the little Twilight book for a present scene at the beginning. Little things like that were what made me love the show in season one, and I'm glad to say that I saw a lot of those details in this episode. Of course if your a Spike, and Rarity shipper, this is probably the best episode ever.
Wow, this was great, even for a show of this awesome. Did anypony notice the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time reference? I am refering to the fire ruby, same exact name and it looks the same after Rarity make a necklace out of it too. Not to mention the fantasia sorcerer's apprentice tribute with Twilight and the books in the beginning. Loved this episode, very touching moments between Spike and Rarity, guess that shipping is canon now .
I would be so happy if they fell in love in an episode, but I don't think it will go any further than what we have already seen. He is still technically a baby dragon, and it will probably spike (no pun) controversy and the news (Fox... piece of crap) will blow it out of proportions and make the show look even worse (if you saw the Fox report on bronies). I hate you Fox and your stupid biased stories.
Not that it need to go much further on screen, in my view, the implications are already pretty clear. As for Spike being a baby dragon, well note the word dragon, he is not too far from Twilight in actual years I think, it is just that dragons have so incredibly long lifespans. Not that Fox would realize that, they are too stupid for that. Im actually suprised they have not already done a report on "Rainbow Dash corrupt the minds of youths with gay propaganda" because of the colour of her mane or something equally mindblowingly retarded. Nuke Mayhem, that is hillarious .
I believe that Zecora stated that he will only grow faster unless if Twilight "stops him from practicing greed". I can still see him growing, but greed seems to be the spark that jumpstarts major growing.
Yes, I too would like to see an episode that shows how Rarity feels for Spike whether good or bad. But I can see a Tank episode coming first, because it would seem kind of strange if it doesn't. He made no appearance in Mysterious Mare do well, and alot of fans got the felling that "Rainbow Dash has abandoned him".
yes, seems so also, Twilight wasn't very old when Spike was born, so yeah, there isn't much age difference (in physical years). as Spike being a baby dragon; we saw that dragons can grow up basically in one day. Also, we know that Twilight is study pony, and now she knows how dragons grow up. Also, Doctor in clinic was quite right, and he said that that way, Spike was maturing. Also, there's Zecora that knows many many things. so summing all up: If Twilight and Spike can learn how to control Spike's hoarding, just enough for him to grow a little bit, he can be big enough for Rarity (I'd say somewhat like size he had when he wanted to take Scootaloo's scooter). Also, we know that Twilight can make spike grow up with magic (although, it was out of control at CMC Chronicles), so mix of study, practice in controlling of Spike's hording and Twilight's magic (for example Do not want spell she used on parasprites to stop them from eating food), Spike can be Rarity's size in one day. As for emotional part of this, I think we have canon shipping. long live Spike x Rarity (Spikety)
I think Spike will grow regardless of hoarding or not. It seems that a dragon's hoarding is what makes them grow exponentially quicker. This can be seen with the other 2 dragons (the one in the episode Dragonshy, and the one in Owl's Well That Ends Well). They both hoarded treasures and jewels. That is why I believe they are so large. Naturally a dragon in Equestria will live on their own with their own free will, and will become greedy and grow immensely as a result. Since Spike is living in an unnatural setting for a dragon, Twilight can keep his greed under control and slow down his growing process. But he will grow nonetheless, all living things must grow. This is of course just my opinion, for all we know the designers might make Spike never grow again for the rest of the show. We'll just have to see.
I think I read somewhere that Spike went through subtle changes in design throughout Season One, as if he were growing up. I'm not sure if that's true or not, though. The dragon in "Dragonshy" was fairly intelligent--certainly more than Spike as he became more and more greedy in this episode. Therefore I'm guessing the whole greed = rapid growth thing isn't meant to happen. Or has someone said that already?
