No it wasn't actually ever meant to replace them..That's just what the Hiveworkshop does? I honestly don't know how they do that, I can have a look though if you that'd be a good way to do it? But yeah, Idk.. I think the current system is pretty poor either way. I'll give you that, but it has been there since we first appeared xD
I've got a suggestion now, Consider it if you will. Okay. So, the current system is too static in my opinion; Getting gems is something that is close to routine since The quantity of rep between the remains much unchanged. So, I'd like to propose a system that makes earning gems Progressively harder (make them require more rep). Here Goes: Start with 1 purple gem (9 pts.) 2[sup]nd[/sup] purple gem @ 10 pts. (+1) 1[sup]st[/sup] green gem @ 15 pts. (+5) 2[sup]nd[/sup] green gem @ 25 pts. (+10) 1[sup]st[/sup] orange gem @ 40 pts. (+15) 2[sup]nd[/sup] orange gem @ 60 pts. (+20) 1[sup]st[/sup] red gem @ 85 pts. (+25) 2[sup]nd[/sup] red gem @ 115 pts. (+30) 1[sup]st[/sup] blue gem @ 150 pts. (+35) A plus of this system is that it's purely algorithmic. Aka, extremely easy to put into play. As an alternative, you could have it Start at 0 (with still one purple gem) and subtract 9 From all the values I proposed. Finally, this is purely a template, Values and colors can be changed as desired. EDIT: Another plus. It doesn't have to stop there.
Really? Oh. Either way, I think it looks much cleaner that way. Hey, in my opinion, having 10 rep icons next-to-eachother on 60 rep points instead of 4 greens seems a bit too messy. Just imagine how it'll look once some user reaches 500 rep points... I think the hive's rep system is quite perfect. It looks satisfying and clean at the same time.
I see what you did there. I feel the gems are earned a little to easy. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
I felt good earning them and getting compliments from people in my rep tab, but I won't hide the fact that the system is very exploitable.
Yeah that's the issue I guess. It fels kinda broken. Like ET the game broken. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
