Well, we have an awards section on our profiles. Can we use it somehow? i.e. here's a few off the top of my head (no, really)- Administrative - be a moderator. Equestrian God - be an Admin. Who are you? - Expert RPer Member bringer - Welcomes many new members Vinyl Scratcher (okay, I had to) - Work on the Everypony Radio at least once. Derpy - Who are you? What are we doing? Where are we going? - Post the most random things (quoted at least 25 times in others' sigs) Green Light - Get green bar of rep NONONONO - Stop asking for an award. Wiser than the wisest - Make a very intelligent post (many overthinking) Owliscious - Write many fics TRIXIE POWER - Amaze everypony (harder than it sounds) hate.exe has crashed - Game developer. ????? - Random award given out by a mod. Veteran - Be here for more than one year. Luna - Be on the forums for more than 3 years. Celestia - Be on the forum for more than 5 years. For a thousand years, I've waited here for you - Random award given out by a mod. Forum Idiot - ??? Rapid Typer - Stop writing so many posts, I can't keep up!
Kinda reminds me of the achievement/trophy system with the xbox360/PS3, kinda useless, but does show off what you've done. Then again, to be honest, video games is more or so a matter of completing objectives, whereas these awards are more of what kind of forumer you are. A nice idea, nonetheless
The awards are for exactly that when we start running competitions or 'user of the year' etc.This is not and I have no plans to implement; An achievement system.
Until this forum reaches a higher level of activity, no awards will be given to any user. They won't get it unless they do something of BIG WORTH for the forum. Namely, the user of the year, competition winners and big forum contributers will receive them, and until some of us get to that quality/status, we have to wait and develop.
I'll leave it open, it's a subject I'm more than happy to see everypony's opinion on - I mean are 'achievements' something you really believe would enrich the everypony.com experience? Of course I'm talking about gimick ones now like posting in a forum so many times, making so many friends etc. It's not hard to implement, there are some pre-made add-ons and all sorts. It's just not something I believed anypony desired ;p
Heh, I just saw it on a forum that's been up for 8 years now (If my system were implemented, I'd have Luna) and everypony loves it there.
You know, forum users don't need awards and such. In another forum I used to go, you were an Elite member if you were there for more than an year (or survived a huge transfer, I think), and you were an Active member if you had more than 1000 posts. The only thing that put you in a bigger status was an item to unlock name change, and that was it. In Subeta.net, achievements are merely to see how much active you are in the site, and it works pretty much like this. They rarely give prizes for achievements, being them more frequent when they're from an actual competition outside forums - it's a petsite, after all.
Awards = Little icons under your avatar ~ Winner of bla bla bla. I'd use these for competitions and such alongside small prizes such as rep or maybe an @everypony email address. Achievements - I hadn't planned to do but could do they are basically listed on your profile and are trivial; Bamboo ------------- Artistic Admirer - This user has startes 20 threads in the art forum/s.

Anyways, Awards basically are there to show off the unique-ness and helpful-ness of a certain user in what field. EDIT: Phone is not an excuse. Mistype is :3
