First off, any person thin-skinned enough to let some criticism deter them from pursuing a leadership position clearly isn't leadership material in the first place. Leaders face scrutiny all the time, and they need to take it in stride. Second, while I don't condone using sexual dimorphism as an excuse to justify actual occurrences of sexism, it DOES provide a satisfactory explanation here: Males tend to have have more testosterone. Testosterone is responsible for aggressive/competitive/ambitious behavior. Leaders cannot exist without competition. Females tend to have less testosterone. This makes them less aggressive/competitive/ambitious. This leads to a far lesser interest among women in pursuing positions of leadership than men. It's not exactly rocket science. Women who DO have that assertive attitude WILL rise to the top, and being called "bossy" isn't going to stop them. As for the AVERAGE woman who could care less about being a leader? You can lead a horse to water, but "banning bossy" isn't going to do a damn thing to make it drink. ^YT comment in response to that ridiculous "ban bossy" campagin.
