Actually in the episode "Baby cakes" it is shown that inter-racial pony breeding is possible. So it is possible that Dinky is Derpy's daughter.
There's no proof that Dinky is even related to Derpy in any way. In Sisterhooves Social, Dinky was with a different pony in the competition. I'd like to think that Dinky and Derpy are sisters, but I don't think that will ever be established in the show.
I find it highly unlikely to the point of impossibility that Dinky is Derpy's daughter for the following reasons: Sisterhooves Social confirmed in canon that Dinky has a big sister, Sparkler (easily but never to be confused with the pony in my sig, Seafoam). If Derpy was Dinky's mother, she'd also be Sparkler's mother. Winter Wrap Up showed Sparkler leading the animal team. She clearly isn't a filly anymore, or let's say, she's at least as old as the Mane Six. Taking this into consideration, just try to imagine how old Derpy would have to be. Now take into consideration that Derpy participated in the Best Young Flyer Competition in Sonic Rainboom. With an adult daughter, she cannot be that young anymore, can she? I can't give you an answer to the original question that may have a chance at becoming anything close to fanon, though. In my headcanon, Dinky's father is an earth pony, namely the jeweller from Hearts and Hooves Day, whereas her mother remains unknown for now; she also has three siblings, her twin sister Tootsie Flute (they don't spend that much time together, however), her big sister Sparkler (canon) and her big brother Written Script (long story).
The way I see it: Mother-Derpy/Ditzy Father-Generally it's Dr. Whooves Daughter-Sparkler (Dinky's sister in Sisterhooves social) Daughter-Dinky This is how I see it in fan art I personally absolutely love when they are shown as a victorian steampunk family.
Dinky's full name is Dinky Hooves. Look at it this way. Derpy entered YOUNG flyers meaning she cant be Dinky's mother. However thier last names are the same indicating some sort of relation. Dr.Whooves has no relation(Although I may be wrong ) and Sparkler is Dinky's sister because they were together at the Sisterhooves social. I dont know about Parents but Dinky almost guranteed has 2 sisters. Also if we are trying to get logical then try to explain the fact that dinkie has several Cutie marks. :derpe:
I concur. It widely shown that the Fanon family is Dinky, The Doctor, Derpy and Sparkler. Whether the Doctor is the step father or real father is unclear, but that is the family that exists
My opinion: Derpy/Ditzy is Dinky's aunt (unicorns, pegasi, and earth ponies can interbreed with no problems) because Derpy, while she appears related to Dinky, seems way too young to be a mom. Sparkler is Dinky's sister canonically, and I see no problems with that. I like to think that Derpy mainly takes care of Dinky and Sparkler (maybe their real mother is busy/sick/deceased) and is sort of their mother figure. Correct me if I have any facts wrong
It's all fanon to me. Dinky's true name is proably blue unicorn filly #4! XDDDD And if it ain't fanon, I atleast hope that her daddy ain't Whooves, the pairing is cute but is so obvisouly pushed together by us fans. Rep of us bronies + rep of a favorite sci fi show= fanon 99.99% But we will never know until everything is confirmed for proably blue unicorn filly #4
